RUSSIA UNDER ATTACK

Whatever excuses America and Britain might use there can be no denying that they are doing their utmost to denigrate and destroy Russia’s president and system of governance. They may lie about much, but this fact is undeniable. And they are using every means at their disposal to achieve their goal.

In an age of many threats they choose war and subversion over any diplomatic pathway to greater understanding and a resolution of issues. Their claims to be civilized powers seeking peace and harmony ring distinctly hollow in the face of their constant aggression towards Russia.

Of course they will say that Russia and the Russian president have done heinous deeds, terrible things and a litany of evil has poured from them. However, whatever they have done, and I leave it to you to decide, how do these “awful deeds” compare with the recent track record of their accusers?

Perhaps you will forgive a short recital of the interventions, invasions and interference that the American and British political elites find so easily to forgive themselves?

Truly, it is only necessary to mention the name of a single nation to put all Russia’s seemingly nefarious deeds to shame. That word is Iraq. Whether tens or hundreds of thousands died is not the point, even a thousand dying is far too many when their deaths took place due to lies.

An illegal attack and an illegal invasion took place, primarily fomented via the deceptions of George W. Bush, Anthony Blair and a large cast of other enthusiastic deceivers adamant that they knew the obvious truth of Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction. Those ‘obvious truths’ that were shown to be a mirage of manipulation, a facade of fictions and a license to commit mass murder.

How does the evil done by America and Britain leading a convoy of puppet nations in Iraq compare with whatever the Russian president and his people did? What say you? Was whatever it was comparable in any way? Yet to hear America and British leaders speak today you might be forgiven for thinking that it was Russia that killed all those people in Iraq. And we needn’t even speak of Afghanistan, Libya, Syria or Yemen. We certainly needn’t reach back to Vietnam, nor further to the serial coups, assassinations and use of death squads in Latin America.

But no, all the above appear to be as nothing compared to what Russia did. And exactly what was that again. even if we have seen no evidence for it... who died exactly? Perhaps one man if we believe the story, and two more who nearly died. Oh and the stopping of its tracks of the USA using terrorist forces in Syria to bring a Caliphate into existence there. Wow. What horrendous deeds! “Russia did it!”

The refrain above was heard for four years solid. We were told U.S. democracy was the casualty... but somehow no evidence could be found after four years of searching. But Russia did it alright... you’ll find they are still saying that even without any proof to substantiate the claim. Any qualifying words such as ‘it is claimed’ or ‘perhaps’ were dropped as fast as lightening from newscasts. Russia interference became a fact sans facts.

All of the above is grist to the misinformation mill that grinds daily in the West, except for the exploit of the USA, UK and others... that side of the equation was written in invisible ink, soon forgotten, forgiven and virtually written out of history. Only one side of an extremely distorted history is to be told in the West, that of big bad old Russia, up to its usual tricks that its DNA makes inevitable, they are the eternal black hats to be gunned down by the white hats of the West. In true racist and xenophobic style in the familiar demonization mode the USA finds so very useful.

Despite the myriad crimes of America and Britain, leaders of the warmongering West, it must be Russia that we must all point at as global 'bad guy’, centre of all threat, hungry to destroy the “noble” democracies who have just recently wiped the copious streams of blood from their hands. The cry is constant. “Look over there!” “Wolf!!!” “Wait, no, it’s a... bear!!!”

Russia is under attack... and will remain so by the West, again and again.

HOW MUCH MORE LYING FROM THE WEST TILL EVERYONE REALISES THE TRUTH?

It started with a vendetta against Vladimir Putin and that campaign, even after a decade and a half, is still ongoing.

The tried and tested methodology learned from the Nazis to repeat your lie over and over and over has been pretty effective.

Huge numbers in the USA and UK believe President Putin is the new Hitler, a murderer, a serial killer in fact, a modern day monster and supercrook, a man who is evil through and through and who would do anything to stay in power including invade the rest of the world after destroying their democracies.

Joseph Goebbels, the Nazi’s propaganda chief would nod sagely and slowly clap his hands in admiration. Here’s a little advice from the lie-master of WWII:

“Never admit to a fault or wrong; never accept blame; concentrate on one enemy at a time; blame that enemy for everything that goes wrong; take advantage of every opportunity to raise a political whirlwind.”

Does this sound familiar at all regarding the boogie man come scarecrow that is Russia or Vladimir Putin. What about that line about ‘one enemy at a time’? You got it, the main campaign, that against China, the USA’s primary rival, comes later.

But let’s stick with Putin for the time being.

Here’s Goebbels again:

“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.”

Another bit of advice from the master deceiver:

“Think of the press as a great keyboard on which the government can play.”

All the elements used against Vladimir Putin are present in Goebbel’s advice above.

Just keep repeating the lies and use the press and media as your keyboard. And denigrate/cancel anyone attempting to portray Putin in any other light as an ‘agent’, ‘puppet’ or useful idiot.

And the clincher from JH?

“The bigger the lie, the more it will be believed.”

So, when you have a compliant media and so-called journalists ready and willing to write hit pieces plus magazines happy to depict Putin with fire in his eyes and the equivalent of vampire teeth the impact on an audience of largely gullible Joes and Josephines, especially when repeated endlessly, is not hard to guess.

But the propaganda pogrom against Putin was not enough. The Svengali needed an extensive orchestra to manipulate. This would be the Russian state. In this scenario, Russians, in general, were to be made scary monsters, ready to kill you in your bed and eat your children for supper.

So we had the entire ‘Russiagate’ furor, a four-year Russia hate-a-thon where Putin and his cronies were responsible for just about every awful thing that ever happened to anyone anywhere. And especially for Hillary Clinton losing the 2016 presidential election to a fat clown non-politician who liked to run off at the mouth and deliver lies faster than she could. Though no solid evidence could be found to link the winning sociopath candidate and ‘the Russians’ enough of the lie stuck to make it useful. Oh, and those nefarious Russians had made $90k of Facebook ads SO VERY EFFECTIVE they outdid the $100m or so the Democrats spent. You might think they’d hire those admen geniuses wouldn’t you? And discover how it could be that almost none of the ads mentioned the presidential election AT ALL. Pure genius that.

And so it goes. Along came the hapless Skripals. Mr Skripal had been set free by Russia in an exchange. You might think if he was such a danger to Russia they’d have killed him while they had him, wouldn’t you? Or if not perhaps bump him off with something less ‘Russian’ than Novichok, perhaps a knife between the ribs or a bullet from a silencer to the head, but no, it had to be associated with Russia. If you think those in the new KGB are as dumb as that, okay… but I don’t. And certainly not Putin.

Then we had Navalny apparently go down (but not out) using the very same Novichok (apparently). But hey, if Russia had already been identified as the wannabe killer of Skripal would you use the selfsame compound to do in Navalny? And would you do it in full public view leaving traces? And as it had failed to kill Skripal would you use this failed method to kill Navalny? And fail once again. Don’t you think that would be sheer carelessness on top of dumbo ignorance? How long have the KGB chaps and chapesses been at this game? Come on... really?

In between times and in no particular sequence we had the downing of the Malaysian airliner MH17 with 298 passengers fatalities. No one has given an explanation as far as I know of why Vladimir Putin or the Russian state would wish to do such a thing, yet we are to believe that several vehicles comprising a surface to air missile unit set off from somewhere in Russia and travelled for days to be in the right spot to do this. It makes no sense, no sense whatsoever. Except as the very next stick to beat Russia with.

So now we have the current ‘Russia bad’ campaign, Russian troops “massing” on Ukraine’s border… except they are not very near that border at all. Apparently they are near the town of Yelnya, which is around 250 kilometers from the Russia-Ukraine frontier. What’s more even at the time they were first reported there by the West official Ukrainian sources said this was nothing unusual, no big deal in fact. But did this stop the eruption of western and European hysteria about this threat that Ukraine said was nothing to get fussed over? It did not. For months the situation was played up across the entire spectrum of western political and mass media circles. Until just in the last few days Ukraine once again repeated its original view, that this was pretty much a non-event, nothing they hadn’t seen before, and why all the fuss?

When you consider how little any of this affected the rest of the world outside of the USA, the UK, and some of Europe, how trade and good relations with Russia continued, and official visits with smiles and deals made with Russia and even with Putin personally present… you begin to smell a big lying rat, several in fact.

Western elites are presiding over a dying empire that has let them dominate and exploit the rest of the world to their advantage for lifetimes. They cannot stand the thought of losing this extremely potent and even more extremely lucrative advantage. All abilities to arm-twist others to their advantage are beginning to fade with the rise of Eurasia and specifically China. Being able to manipulate events, threaten so-called wrongdoers and administer punishments to them with impunity, attack and invade, indulge in mass killings and destruction also with impunity. It all disappears along with their self-awarded high status as world guardians with all the prestige and power that entails.

So what are a few lies when all is fair in love, war, and economics? When your back is against the wall what are you to do? As a terminally wounded beast you lash out at every supposed “enemy” around you, don’t you?

And you also use every dirty trick in your well-thumbed playbook, right? And what is the CIA expert in after all? What empire in such dire straits will not use the psychological operations (PsyOps) teams together with those in BlackOps as necessary weapons in the war to save the empire? It’s all grist to the mill as they say. What matter a few more lies when you’ve already used a whole bunch to get a war started against Iraq and others with hundreds of thousands dead when you’ve tortured, renditioned, and held people without trial for decades? When you are in an existential struggle to save everything that keeps your mojo going each day by being a world controller what do a few useful lies matter?

EURASIA REFUSES TO MIRROR THE CULTURAL EXCESSES OF THE WEST

The authorities in both Russia and China are making it perfectly clear that they want nothing to do with the culture wars raging in the West, particularly those occurring in the USA.

Like it or not they are making a stand against what they see as a narcissistic, navel-gazing, rabidly self-interested, and entitlement-infused amorality masquerading as ‘human rights’.

Their way is the way of long-held traditions that have stood the test of time and bear a minimum of potential for endless division as one sector of society continually fights another. The tried and tested principles of the past are their choice, not the headlong flight into headlong chaos they see the West descending into.

In America there’s a phrase that has become well known in recent years, “My country right or wrong”. The same stance can be applied to the approaches in both Russia and China now. For them, unity is of paramount importance and the atomization of their societies in culture wars is abhorrent. They have both been through that with hugely tragic consequences and have no intention of returning to those days when certain dogmas were forced on people and entire lives could be cancelled at a stroke.

Of course, there will be those who are aghast that the freedoms of the West could be criticised in this way, aren’t we all to be able to let our freak flags fly and do exactly as we please within the law? But this flies in the face of the realities faced by nations who do not have anything like the privileges of wealth boasted of in the USA and those who are ambitious to be just like them. In those nations, relatively much poorer these are simply examples of excess and selfishness, of societies of empire, reaching a similar stage as that of Rome just as it fell.

Which way forward will we take as a species? Toward a complete anarchy of infinite diversity? Or on a more solid path where predictability and unity are emphasised above all else? On the former path, a constant updating of the rules will be required in each human mind. Do’s and don’ts will become minefields needing new maps on an almost daily basis. Many will find their minds swirling with confusion as they are castigated for using an inappropriate pronoun or turn of phrase or even for an action such as opening a door or clapping too loudly. The thought police will appear to be everywhere waiting to pounce, punish and regulate behaviour.

In the traditional societies where a lesser degree of ‘anything goes’ freedom exists predictability is far higher than in the ‘human rights are all’ West and or good reason. Access to relatively freely available income is also traditionally less. Absolute human rights have not been affordable as predictable behaviour and hard work, raising families, and solidarity to get through hard times together have been extremely valuable, indeed necessary, attributes. The affluent West has been able to exploit much in the so-called developing nations and use those resources as a springboard (along with their own natural assets) to future undreamed of by most of the rest of the world.

When everyone wants their own way no one gets their way. As we see now in western nations, affluence breeds a certain aggression where the fight to assert one’s own rights rather than looking for a communal solution emphasising unity as human beings, creates a social war at its extremes. Methods become increasingly divisive where those opposing or seeming to oppose such individuals are almost depicted as war criminals, as racists, fascists, and a great number of other terms denoting cancellation.

For those like me who were inspired by the enthusiasm for change in the West during the Sixties where there was an impatience to be rid of the stultifying norms of previous eras the about-face to once again embrace the traditional outlooks of parents and grandparents might feel quite disconcerting. There was also a surge toward socialism and other changes of system that were looked upon as radical at the time. Free love, the use of recreational drugs was much more attractive, and an aversion to the normal - find a job - work 9 to 5 - settle down - start a family and live as your parents did, was virtually anathema.

Those days of the Sixties are long gone. The surge of freedom-loving anarchism and relatively innocent experimentation hardly survived into the Seventies. The relative innocence and simplicity of just a few years before vanished like morning mist in the full glare of midday. Only a very few found a way to maintain themselves in anything like an ‘alternative lifestyle’. Most rejoined the more or less normal like of the majority sooner or later and mostly sooner rather than later.

Traditional forms of life tend to be the archetypal form whose shape we tend to migrate toward unless we find some kind of niche in the rarified stratosphere of eccentric living within the arts, crafts, therapy, or religious life.

For most of us, the more or less standard life structure, as usually visualised, will likely suit us best. We are none too concerned if those on the fringes act as they wish as long as they don’t impact society and the life of the majority in too extreme a way. But just this is beginning to occur in the West, particularly so in the USA. The fringes are demanding to be mainstream and some within the mainstream elites appear to believe their rights ought to be raised above those of the majority who remain within a generally traditional lifestream. This is precisely what the Russian and Chinese authorities do not want and will not tolerate.

A kaleidoscope of emotional choices where outcomes are of questionable benefit but may sadly lead to a cul-de-sac of unhappy chaos where society becomes riven by internal discord and social atomization makes for a very unhappy existence, potentially for all.

Youthful folly is a known phenomenon. We normally grow out of such follies, taken on when we feel immortal and resistant to all that may hurt us. Societies that never outgrow the follies it takes on, but remain searching for eternal youth will likely stay in the kindergarten stage of interminable and extremely shallow-minded chaos where maturity never arrives. The big question is, can such societies ever return to the stable foundations that once were the norm and which allowed for unimpeded growth?

Eurasian nations are determined never to have to find out whether such levels of chaos can be reversed. They have seen how much pain is involved in such a process. They have decided to retain the tried and tested ways of life they know bring important unity of purpose, predictability, and stability to life. Thus they aim to guarantee that such debilitating anarchy as seen currently growing in the West has no fertile ground to undermine their own nations.

THE PROBLEM WITH BELIEVING ANYTHING THAT U.S. POLITICAL ELITES SAY

Russia's foreign minister Sergey Lavrov has a major problem. Not only is it almost impossible to debate the issues with people like Tony Blinken or any of the other U.S. representatives due to them continuing to avoid the issues, there also remains the final hurdle that needs to be faced, that of trust.

Trump showed just how temporary a U.S. agreement can be when he summarily reneged on the Iran Nuclear Deal. In addition he forced back into operation the restrictions on Cuba that Obama had reduced. Trump also reversed the Obama decision not to send lethal weaponry to Ukraine in case it exacerbated the violence there. This is the kind of quixotic decision-making that makes a nonsense of U.S. claims for itself of being a responsible player on the world stage.

This is without even mentioning the disastrous and murderously bloody and often counter-effective regime change wars often based on obvious lies and propaganda that the U.S. has waged in recent years.

So, can anything U.S. political representatives be trusted to last longer than a few years if at all?

I suspect not.

The reason I say this is not only because of the past record of the USA reneging on its promises. I believe there is a far more serious and even more intransigent reason underlying all others.

For me this underlying reason why deceit, subterfuge and using betrayal as a weapon have become all too common is a relatively simple one.

The rot really began to set in after 9/11. Until then the U.S. did of course use interference across the world for its own narrow self-interest, but after 9/11 we saw a completely new and hugely widened framework for what weapons could be used in an ever more widely campaign of interference globally.

Those weapons were whatever was found effective. As we saw, military attacks and invasions were used initially. But as these proved extremely expensive and not as effective as first envisaged other methodologies came into use. Of course at the time of these wars we began to see the adherence to a degree of moral and ethical behaviour degrade. Black Sites were created where torture took place. And we will all surely recall what occurred at Abu Ghraib in Iraq and know with certainty that this was only the tip of the iceberg regarding many other atrocities committed in the name of safeguarding America.

Since the time of the Vietnam war U.S. elites have made great strides in taming the journalistic profession (which acted as a largely anti-war device during the final years of that war). The press and media would be 'embedded' with U.S. troops and given 'briefings' on what they 'needed to know'. This neutralising process was carried forward with ever-greater effectiveness until the press & media corps eventually became simply another elite arm of American foreign policy. This was a vital requirement that would greatly assist in the deceiving of American and western populations in future.

The wars the USA is waging now whether via proxies like the Saudi Arabian elites or via those of Ukraine are more or less invulnerable to questioning as western press and media are fully compliant and 'on board', linked as they inextricably are with their fellow elites within the western security state apparatus.

So, with the 'facts' and the 'truth' sewn up through their compliant news networks and their own people thoroughly conditioned never to gainsay or question these 'facts' and 'truths' the U.S. foreign policy establishment was ready to undermine and even prohibit in many cases any questioning of those 'facts' and 'truths'. Thus the western powers came to be the most proficient and prevalent purveyors of 'fake news' on geopolitical situations such as those pertaining to both Yemen and most significantly, Ukraine.

'Facts' and 'Truths' that omit important elements of the Ukrainian conflict and begin narratives at the most optimum point for the western agenda mean that no dialogue can take place with the nation that has full awareness of those omitted facts and truths that should legitimately be part of the timeline. What kind of useful debate can Lavrov have with his U.S. counterparts when they remain completely blind to events before a certain date and the effect of those events which run counter to their chosen narratives?

These are the additional reasons why U.S. diplomats (so-called) cannot be trusted an inch. Their minds run on a different timeline and context than truly exists. Their self-conditioning is airtight and no questioning of the belief-bubble they exist in as a tightly-knit group is allowed for a second. Anyone so madcap as to do so would be cancelled immediately and of course those remaining are not madcap at all and so remain tightly bound by the rules of the game.

So we have an insane circus of the blind and utterly myopic, fixed minds dedicated to the goals set after 9/11 of full spectrum dominance and the total elimination of leaders of any nations and systems of governance not fully in compliance with American demands of obedience to its patrician rule.

Lavrov has been given the job of successfully circumventing and surmounting a class of politician that has every weapon, no matter how unethical, immoral or deceiving it may be to undermine, attack, betray and confuse any attempt to find a diplomatic pathway through to some mutually beneficial agreement. The goal is to defeat, not to establish a dialogue. To betray rather than befriend, to divide and dismay rather than debate, to confuse and dodge the issue rather than seek a clear path to any mutual understanding.

In short, those who wish to negotiate with the most untrustworthy, mendacious and misleading political elites this world has ever seen truly have no earthly chance of success. It is a problem with no solution except a robust confrontation and the establishment of a united political and military front against those who choose to be so willfully blind and who remain dedicated to war though pretending to wish peace.

THE NEW RUSSIAN STANCE & THE DEMISE OF WESTERN MASS MEDIA

If Russian demands for written assurances guaranteeing its own national security along with that of others has done nothing else it has certainly begun to change the narrative. For once a few Russian viewpoints are intermittently being heard. Admittedly not frequently enough as yet.

The western media's unwillingness to stand by its own avowed principles of impartiality in telling both sides of any story have been an ongoing scandal for years now. Putin and Russia have been reported in overwhelmingly negative language amounting to a clear case of demonization.

So, if now that Russia has finally found itself relatively immune to new western attacks and has decided to push back against the waterfall of overt and covert attacks upon her we should see a rebalancing of the media equation on Russia to some degree. Previously western mass media has apparently been aware of the push to damage Russia by their political elites and have found it expedient and profitable to pile on the pressure through scandalously evidence-free hit pieces. It is extremely unlikely this will stop altogether of course.

Modern, western so-called journalism, demands drama, scandal, threat and the generation of endless fear, especially so U.S. media (as depicted in a Michael Moore film of several years ago). Russia provides their need in these respects with apparently no feeling on their part for accountability or for any requirement for rebuttal by those being slandered through the publishing of wild and damaging claims. Hopefully with Russia's new stance this denigration of publishing standards will decrease over time.

The 'Russian Invasion' trope has just about run its course and the absence of any such event will surely reflect badly on so-called 'journalistic standards' in the West and should cause some soul-searching in editor's offices... though there must be some doubt on this eventuality considering the depth of prejudice involved. At the very least perhaps the levels of drama, scandal, threat and fear required might just transfer away from Russia as a new respect based on its stronger stance is registered. A vain hope? Perhaps.

That western mainstream media has brought itself to a new nadir of disrepute in recent years must surely be obvious to all but the most partisan by now. The 'Get Russia!' command at all levels of the western political power structure (including its partisan press of course) has come on top of the various other scandals of media deception regarding the lies told concerning the West's serial regime change wars. And of course the attempt to deceive western audiences with the 'Russiagate' fabrications. The non-existent 'Russian Invasion' will garner even more rueful sceptics to the already burgeoning band of those who have long-since found western mass media to be totally untrustworthy and look to other net-based sources for their insight into geopolitical events.

Western mainstream media is its own worst enemy as it struggles to remain relevant and generate sufficient clicks and viewers to garner the advertising income that largely supports it now. Up till now they have been able to rely on a cosy relationship between elites in this regard. State sources have provided their "information", then used to aid the goals and agendas of their political allies (if not masters). The elite corporate world, especially that of the so-called defence industries within the military industrial complex have of course a vested interest in maintaining the status quo and none whatsoever in seeing Eurasian powers rise at their expense. This cosy relationship of political, corporate and media elites will no doubt continue while readers and viewers of their increasingly propaganda-based output attracts an ever-dwindling number willing to put any faith in them.

Hopefully then, the stronger line taken by Russia will finally command some respect in western elite circles. We have, in my opinion, only just begun to see the fruits of the new, relatively invulnerable status of Russia, and that we will see a much more proactive Russia from this point on where there is much less concern regarding whatever negative responses this engenders in any of the western elites. In conjunction with the above there is at least a reasonable chance that western mass media will begin to show Russia a little of the respect it deserves. Meanwhile ever greater numbers will be turning away from these media sources which have been lying to them so very frequently for so long now

WORLD WAR III: THE END GAME WAR UPDATE (THE GLOVES ARE COMING OFF)

With an unacceptable response from NATO and the USA on Russia’s security demands, it appears that Putin is now removing the limitations he may have previously set on Russia’s actions. With this refusal on behalf of these entities to recognize Russia’s ‘red lines’ in respect of its national security the gloves appear to have been taken off. In an article published on the 26th of January, we find that Putin has agreed to assist three Latin American states under threat by the USA, Cuba, Venezuela, and Nicaragua. This represents military assistance to allies against a common enemy. Russian President Vladimir Putin has agreed with the leaders of Cuba, Venezuela, and Nicaragua to develop partnerships in a range of areas, including stepping up military collaboration, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has announced. Speaking on Wednesday in an appearance in front of the Duma – Russia’s parliament – Lavrov reported that Putin had talked recently with the leaders of the three Central American countries and that they had agreed to work together to strengthen their strategic cooperation. “President Putin held recent telephone conversations with his colleagues from these three governments, with whom we are very close and friendly, and they agreed to look at further ways to deepen our strategic partnership in all areas, with no exceptions,” Lavrov stated. He noted that Russia already has close relations with these countries in many spheres, “including military and military-technical.” Russia unveils military plans in Cuba & Latin America It is clear that Putin now recognizes that the USA/NATO plan no compromises and are engaged in a war against Russia with the intent to accomplish regime change within it and to then dismantle the Russian system of governance and replace it. This is sure to be followed by mass termination of employment for all those who remain loyal to the present leadership and its government. Additional moves to strengthen the resistance to other nations under threat from the USA such as Iran and Syria can be expected along with an even closer relationship with China incorporating transference of technical information regarding Russia’s latest weapons systems and quite possibly a formal military alliance. The refusal of NATO and the political elites of the USA to show any willingness to compromise on Russia’s national security concerns regarding the inexorable creep of NATO to Russia’s borders and their determination to bring Ukraine and possibly Georgia into the NATO alliance appear to be the last straw for Russia’s leadership. Russia’s next moves will without doubt shock the western powers and their compliant news media outlets and generate much controversy but western political elites have only themselves to blame for this eventuality. Agreement will be ever harder to find unless the western powers back down from their present position of adamant refusal to accept that Russia must have its sovereign right to security acknowledged. The ‘red lines’ enumerated by Russia recently are non-negotiable and if not recognized then Russia will be forced to take other measures, such as those announced regarding Latin America offset the dangers it faces from the West and gives it leverage to balance the dangers in the situation facing it. We are moving into an even more dangerous phase now as the gloves finally come off on the Russian side of this equation. Left with no other choice but increased confrontation and the use of its alliances against the western powers Russia will now bring the fight to the West. Some will say this is not before time, however, it required necessary patience on the part of Russia to explore every possible avenue to achieve a resolution to these matters. Now that a final conclusion to them has been reached with no satisfactory outcome, that patience appears finally to have been exhausted. A new array of options, previously held in abeyance, are now likely to be activated wherever they are felt appropriate and with no reference whatsoever to the reactions which may be stimulated among western political elites or their compliant news channels.

WHAT ARE THE POSSIBLE CALCULATIONS ON ALL SIDES REGARDING UKRAINE?

Clearly a huge amount is at stake for all sides. This is growing ever more evident as the rhetoric, discussions, supposed revelations and heated language show.

Most of it, it must be said, is emanating from the West and not from Russia. Russia has been stating its wishes and enumerating its red lines with what appears to be a sober dedication to remaining strictly logical on each issue covered.

Then why do we see such an uproar in the West? What has Russia done that is so controversial requiring the elite version of a hissy fit combined with epileptic arm waving and jilted lover's hand wringing? What is all this drama about exactly?

The Russian side of things is fairly easy to understand. NATO, the force that was the West's spearhead against the Soviet Union and Warsaw Pact which has been steadily encroaching upon Russia's borders is a real headache. NATO says Russia has nothing to fear from it... but how can Russia believe this? What target is NATO aiming at in that case, if it is not Russia? As Putin has said, why should Russia have such an arrogant and heavily-armed entity on its doorstep constantly threatening its communal home?

NATO is very attractive to the elites of ex-Warsaw Pact nations as membership brings with it a certain heightened status, reflected kudos, access to finances, introduction to an elite coterie of goodies, international travel and a seat at the great high table.
Whether NATO ought to have been disbanded at the end of the Cold War is a moot point however. It appears that it was simply too big, too useful and had myriad career ladders within it that it was unthinkable to simply let it collapse in skeletal form across Europe.

And of course it represented North America's primary presence across Europe. An empire of influence that it became unthinkable to eliminate even in the face of 'The New World Order' that Dubya's dad hailed after the Soviet Union collapsed. The Warsaw Pact nations were just too tempting a prize to resist. And so it has been ever since with NATO encroaching closer and closer to a Russia totally transformed by Putin since Soviet times.

So, there's a lot at stake for the western powers and their pet rottweiler in the shape of NATO. These western powers are at imminent risk of having their power eclipsed and their influence weakened. China and Russia working in close cooperation has sent these powers into a frenzy of activity designed to damage the path forward for both. So much status, so many national interests, so much patrician power to manipulate, punish and eliminate opposing forces would be lost if China and Russia were left alone to prosper.

The western powers conceive themselves and their systems as the very peak of civilization, the supreme guardians of the destiny of humankind, the exceptional few who are the rightful judges and arbiters of right and wrong, able and willing to punish all wrongdoers and shake the world to its senses when need be.

Russia is seen as the incalcitrant orphan who was adopted by kind folk and who is now acting as ungrateful whelp dismissing all their good advice and voicing a determined stance to choose which way to turn and which path to take quite separate from their well-meant advice. Now these doting foster parents have descended down through the emotional spectrum to a point of wanting to give this orphan a good beating.

What then might this purported delinquent be up to? What would Russia gain by being the bad boy in this scenario over Ukraine? Certainly not much by way of valuable assets. Ukraine's shop window is all but bare save for a few items hardly anyone would want. What's in it for this supposed Russian rascal and ne'er-do-well? Not much it seems. There's that poisoned chalice in the corner called Ukraine. Not very tempting now, is it?

Ukraine has been threatening our kid's pals for years now and like many a bully shows no sign of giving up its malign endeavors. All blandishments to settle things in an equitable manner for all sides has been ignored. Instead of kissing and making up Ukraine has called on others in its gang to help it punish Russia's pals to an ever greater extent. They of course resist any temptation to ask Ukraine to stop its targeted violence out of group peer pressure and the possibility of getting cancelled by Big Brother America, leader of the gang.

As for Russia it has been pretty patient all this while hoping for some sign that there might be even the slightest possibility of a peaceful and harmonious resolution to this sorry saga. But one thing or another may well have totally disabused it of the idea that anything like a transformation of the Ukrainian character is possible. May it have become time then for the bully to receive a powerful punch to its misbegotten nose from Russia? Just possibly.
Naturally the other members of Ukraine's gang are not going to stand by and let this happen.

It's a complex mix of competing ambitions then, many elements, with most cooks involved decidedly spoiling the broth. Leaving yet another analogy to one side we can see the western powers carefully sheltering their prodigy and guarding its sullied reputation from view while shaking a fist at Russia and demanding it keep its distance.

Meanwhile the Donetsk and Lugansk Peoples Republics stand ready for blows that may rain down on them at any moment. For eight long years they have been kept fenced in and bombarded. Yet another good reason for Russia to act in their defense... but not only this, but also in their potential liberation from a murderous harassment that has gone on far too long now.

The West is loath to give up its trophy as it intends on gaining many more and to lose this one after its Afghanistan one is too much for their exceptional hearts to bear. For them its finders keepers and losers weepers and they are determined that Ukraine will stay there's. After all China is set on taking the trophies in Africa that both the United Kingdom and United States have long considered theirs for the taking. Doubling down and not in any way doubting themselves or their ambitions for full control everywhere are the orders of the day for "superior" folk.

China and Russia stand almost stock still while the western giant roars and stamps its great feet over Ukraine (to conjure up yet another analogy). He has largely been successful in teaching his Lilliputian population a half truth bordering on complete fabrication concerning the origins of the fight (to the death?) he is now in. His minions now largely jump up and down with him. Much heat is observed but little light is generated. Meanwhile an even greater source of both heat and light looms.

Is anyone calculating in level-headed terms in this almost primary school playground scuffle? Always inscrutable, Putin is certainly the prime candidate for this honor. Biden? Biden seems lost in a hazy dream, sleepwalking toward a disaster of one kind or another. While European allies mumble among themselves about what this global tussle of superpowers means for them. It's certainly not going to be a "gas", that's for sure...
