UKRAINE AND THE DAMNED LIARS OF THE WESTERN WORLD

There are lies of both commission and omission. Telling only one side of any story is in itself a type of lying. When this is taken to extremes of course it moves from being lies plain and simple to being misinformation, disinformation and ultimately, propaganda. The political and media elites of the western world have been indulging in every form of deceptional abuse in this context regarding events in Ukraine since at least 2014. The result is a milieu within these top echelons of power and influence that has become totally corrupted. Not a word said on the subject of Ukraine and Russia by them can be trusted.

What has brought about this ruination of the West’s reputation across Eurasia, the Global South, much of Latin America if not the entire world? National news broadcasters such as the BBC and CNN have previously been held in relatively high regard. No more. The reputation of both broadcasters in terms of having trustworthy news content has fallen to catastrophic levels where both are viewed with jaundiced skepticism if not outright derision as the worst of the worst when it comes to media lies regarding Ukraine.

According to the BBC they are impartial in all cases and devote themselves constantly to the highest standard of journalism. Though CNN makes no such claim they purport by inference to be delivering accurate news to their viewers. How either can make their case in the context of their clear devotion to assisting the war effort of western states against Russia is about as difficult to fathom for most of us as Einstein’s theory of relativity. To twist ourselves into the kind of mental gymnastics that the editors and staff of those institutions do is simply too painful. Most of us still retain the view that facts must be viewed in something corresponding to a holistic assessment to be accredited as anything approaching what might be termed the overall reality of any situation.

That the BBC has no impartiality when it comes to Russia and Ukraine is surely patently obvious to even the most obtuse reader and viewer. Similarly, in the case of CNN the consistent daily bias over the past 18 months and more is clear for all to see. Whether you happen to agree with the stance of these two broadcasters is irrelevant to the case here. At the very least we can say with confidence that whatever we are being exposed to, it certainly does not come under the heading of ‘journalism’. The closest term that fits is something along the lines of ‘state stenographer’ or ‘official narrative communicator’. A wholly one-sided set of narratives conform to one overall agenda, do all possible to communicate Russia in negative terms and all possible to depict Ukraine in the most positive.

All points above being obvious without risk of any contradiction it is quite miraculous that western mass media has any credibility left at all. This is equally so for western politicians on the subject of Russia and Ukraine. They too are guilty of the same wholly one-sided bias where balance and therefore true insight is totally absent. How can any form of end to the conflict be found when all western nodes of power are controlled by people who refuse to admit anything other than their own fixed and nonsensical notion that all right is on one side and all wrong on the other? If this frozen attitude had been in place in all past conflicts they would all continue to this very day. The Vietnam war, the occupation of Afghanistan and many other areas of strife would endlessly continue to produce the misery, death and destruction they are infamously known for.

The effort to create a false image of success in war through the constant generation of a wholly one-sided picture of events was seen in Vietnam, was seen too in Afghanistan. The same stories of endless success as seen now stemming from the coverage of the Ukrainian conflict were seen then. Everyone involved had an interest in projecting success to their superiors and employers, all the way to the topmost levels where decisions on policy were made. This ‘can do’ ever-positive mentality where tiny successes are amplified to ridiculous proportions leads ultimately to total blindness to reality. Within the sphere of news broadcasting in the West this is then transferred to national populations. Blindness created by totally one-sided misinformation masquerading as news content generates a heightened level of consent for war that ensures ever more death and destruction in Ukraine. This is the continuing tragedy wrought by western political and media elites today as they sit comfortably far, far from battlefields where the horror they perpetuate by their lies, perpetual bias and war-mode propaganda, goes on unabated.

The western elites guilty of perpetuating the conflict in Ukraine will never face trial. The track record for these people concerning previous regime change wars of choice, is that they are promoted rather than made to account for their manifest deceptions and prostitution of their journalistic principles. The politicians too, are equally immune from any meaningful form of justice being applied to them. So why should any of their ilk ever be concerned to any degree that they will suffer any form of comeuppance or judgement for their distortion of reality to suit western self-interest, even when mass death and destruction ensues and is made to continue unabated? They have no reason whatever to worry. They are in lock-step with their superiors and equals in the establishment echelon of their societies. They share the lies. They share the responsibility. And they share the protection that ensures none of them will suffer any form of negative outcome at all for their lies.

These agents of state power in political and media spheres, with conscience and retribution-free impunity tell their self-serving lies, serving to actively continue a situation where 500 to 700 Ukrainians die each and every day that dawns. These are the guilty men and women of the western world, men and women who will never come to trial, but instead will freely continue to exert their baleful influence beyond the present Ukrainian tragedy to that of the war against China still to come.

THE USA-UK PARTNERSHIP: SELF-PROCLAIMED SAINTS WITH HANDS DRIPPING BLOOD

There has arguably never been such a loathsome spectacle in the history of humankind than that which we see presented before us at this time. Yes, there have been many before who have proclaimed their goodness and sanctity while committing mass murder but the barefaced and consistent proclamations of the bloody-handed do-gooders seen presently takes some beating. Most recent atrocity in this regard must surely be the Nazis whose belt-buckle read.  ‘GOTT MIT UNS’.

These two, the USA and UK have, between them, some of the bloodiest history of barbarity against weaker members of the human race, than any others. From the genocide of the native American people by the North Americans to the subjection of multiple nations to colonialist terror and extortion by the UK, their reputations as saintly do-gooders could hardly be more risible. Add in the slave trade in which both indulged in with lamentable enthusiasm and you achieve a picture that bears no relation to their proclamations of superiority and exceptionalism in the fields of ethical conduct and moral behaviour.

The self-image projected by people such as Anthony Blinken of the USA and Rishi Sunak of the UK is of nations who are pure of thought and deed, nations simply wishing to do good in the world by bringing its peoples the clear benefits of democracy and freedom. No possible alternate motivation should EVER be ascribed to these two economic carnivores who previously saw fit to rip other nations apart for their benefit. Nothing should ever be said about the wolves hiding under the sheep’s clothing they metaphorically ripped off the back of those they insist must be their suitably cowed minions. Yet what is this? Those they project as slaves are mounting a revolt against them!

How could this be? How can those who ought to be forever grateful to be safe under the western thumb show such ingratitude? Surely something has gone wrong with the world that these ungrateful whelps not worth a damn are now giving every indication of REALLY wishing to be free. This was not in the plan at all. The plan was that they forever remain assets of the West, milch cows to be milked for all they’ve got to support their western superiors and overlords. It looks like they are in need of more “democracy” and “freedom” by way of some stringent sanctions or perhaps even a few death squads.

The USA and UK have the two most bloody and murderous reputations on the planet. Yet, with barefaced cheek and abuse of the power achieved by the rape and assault on others they seek to maintain their position as joining global bullies by doing all they now can to destroy those wishing to be free of them. One after another of those the USA and UK consider should be grateful for their global supervision are now thumbing their noses at them and telling them now is the time for them to take a hike. Take France for instance as the most obvious example of this movement. National after nation in Africa wants the French to sling their hook and end their barbarous and vastly over-prolonged exploitation of them. The same movement is showing signs of occurring even in Europe.

All is not well within the European Union. Stirrings against the desired consensus wished for by the Brussels mandarins on Ukraine and Russia is occurring. The increasingly dictatorial command emanating from the topmost quarters of the EU are being resisted like never before. And above them of course we have the dictates being handed down by the USA. Everyone is supposed to toe the line and hold fast to the mandated narrative and agenda regarding both Russia and Ukraine. However, any consensus that may have seemed all-pervasive at one point is now shattered. Bitter reality is emerging to inform those wearing rose-tinted spectacles regarding both the virtual holiness of the Ukrainian cause and the distorting mirrors of the darkest, blackest ‘evils’ of Russia. Hard reality is changing minds and causing a revulsion against the propaganda dictates of the upper US-UK-EU echelon.

In the Sixties those protesting the ugly truth behind the white lies of sanctity proclaimed by those in positions of U.S. and UK command regarding the war against Vietnam, chanted this phrase: “The Whole World Is Watching!” This chant was never more true than now. As the US-UK proxy Ukraine goes down with hundreds of thousands dead and billions of dollars, pounds and Euros squandered it is all in the glare of worldwide publicity. The carefully-crafted illusion of western sanctity is being exposed daily. The facade of integrity and decency which its political and media elites have foisted on the world is crumbling before our very eyes. Daily we see through the lies they have projected as holy writ. Daily their gross errors of judgement and cynical ploys intended the conditioning of their populations are being exposed. Lie after lie is being revealed leaving those who desire to be lauded and praised as saintly warriors seen plainly as the black-hearted, ill-motivated murderers and criminals they truly are.

WESTERN ELITES ARE VAINLY ATTEMPTING TO TURN BACK A MASSIVE GEOPOLITICAL TSUNAMI

The legend goes that King Canute believed he was so strong and all-powerful that he could turn back the tide at his command. Anyone who knows this story knows also how this ends.

And from Shakespeare:

Brutus:

There is a tide in the affairs of men.

Which, taken at the flood, leads on to fortune;

Omitted, all the voyage of their life

Is bound in shallows and in miseries.

On such a full sea are we now afloat,

And we must take the current when it serves,

Or lose our ventures.

In this epoch of world history we can see a great power attempting to turn back the tide of history. That great power is the USA, or better said the men and women who control the levers of power regarding U.S. foreign policy. Currently they are using every means possible to turn back the tide of global change in the geopolitical sphere.

It is not quite right however, to talk only of the geopolitical sphere. The change that is occurring now is much more profound. It involved the very basics of how people live their lives on our planet, the essential culture of everyday mores and traditional practices… or the lack of them, in some specific quarters.

The woke movement in the USA is but the latest example of the continuing decay of long-held principles that have traditionally underpinned daily existence, smoothing the gears of human interaction and constantly laying a predictable and relatively stable platform. Since the advent of the Sixties we have seen a constant decline in principles of behaviour in the USA and their replacement with an increasingly ‘anything goes’ culture. Predictability and security along with social stability and therefore connectivity have suffered as a result. Ever greater freedom of behaviour has eroded the backdrop of self-discipline and respect for others by blurring the social edges that maintained mutual respect, easy assimilation of character and held potential confusion and unpredictability regarding human interaction at bay.

Those who are presiding over an increasingly anarchic and lawless West seem oblivious to the rot that is infecting their citizens. All their focus appears concentrated on the war they are waging to hold back the hugely significant change that they see rising before them. This tsunami of geopolitical change from nations they have previously dominated has been rising for many years and the western powers appear determined to do all in their power to stymie its progress. Despite there being every indication that this is a change whose time has come we see no effort to assimilate its effects or to adapt or embrace it in any way by the West. It seems rabidly determined to defeat this rising power or to die in the attempt potentially taking us all with it.

It didn’t have to be this way of course. However, the rigid belief in western superiority and exceptionalism made the present situation close to inevitable. Dinosaur minds, unable to adapt to the new situation unfolding before them could respond only by aggressively going on the attack.  New wars were “justified” using reasons other than the true one, the West’s failing global power and influence. Hubris and the hatred felt viscerally for all that threatened their power drove western political and media elites into a frenzy. During this frenzy traditional norms of ethical behaviour and ethical conduct were abandoned. Torture became justifiable using semantic sophistry. Polemic and rhetoric replaced dialogue and debate, complex facts were reduced to simplistic soundbytes while every possible outlet for communication was prostituted to deliver propaganda. A war mode was assumed within which the political and media spheres quickly mirrored the social chaos of societies increasingly ugly and dysfunctional when compared with those within the rising nations.

The privileged West was reaping its inevitable harvest resulting from a decreasing need to be community-based. The individual and his or her needs and desires were paramount. There appeared no need to work together and indeed the buzzword was competition along with the urgent command to have it all and have it like YOU like it. In Britain Margaret Thatcher infamously said “There is no such thing as society.” Behaving correctly out of respect for others went out of fashion as affluence brought freedom to do whatever you liked and to hell with what anyone else thought about it. The breakdown of the previous concept of society and ‘working together’ to improve things for all became a virtual anachronism that became epitomised via the advent of the internet. The collective West atomised just as its political and media elites united to stand as a unified front against those that threatened to reduce their economic and therefore political and military power.

The elites spoken of above were dedicated to waging war of all kinds against their ‘enemies’, meaning China and Russia along with a list of others who resisted western command and control, including Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Iran, Cuba, and Venezuela. They saw that it was these separately and in combination who presented a growing threat to them. Through NATO and other means the USA gathered its armies. The UK, Germany, France, (and others within the EU) plus Australia, NewZealand and Japan would train their economic, political and media guns on their enemies in the hope of destroying their means to grow and succeed. Little did they realise that in so doing they would instead strengthen them, encourage them to unite and increasingly waken to the threat coming from the West.

The hubris-pervaded western elites, so sure of their superiority and exceptional abilities appear to have assumed the nations they had exploited, threatened and repeatedly punished and held down for years would quickly fall into line and obey their command to do s as they had done so many times before. But times, unfortunately for those western elites had changed. A particular, independent and sovereign power had risen to a level sufficient to be largely beyond western threat, command and ability to punish. That power of course was and is China. Subsequently nations began to graduate toward this new power on the block, this rising force in the world. Nations who had previously been squashed under the western thumb saw their chance to once again be sovereign, independent nations and one by one sought to align with the new rising tide in the east.

In recent weeks we have seen the economically-aligned BRICS group of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa take on six new members, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Egypt, Argentina, Ethiopia and the United Arab Emirates. Around 34 additional nations have also expressed the wish to join. This trend emphasises just how much times have changed Three out of the six joining have in the past been seen as allies of the USA and other western powers. The shock of this eventuality has been suppressed in western media but there can be no doubt that it is felt in the upper elite echelons of western nations.

The ultimate irony is of course that it has been the very war against the rising powers that has, at least in part and arguably to a significant degree, that has driven the nations above together. By fighting tooth and nail to maintain its power over others the West has paradoxically lost power to them by uniting them in coalition.

King Canute found to his undoubted chagrin that he was NOT as all-powerful as he had assumed. Whether he drowned as a result of his false pride and mistaken  belief in the unlimited nature of his power, is not known. Whether the USA and its proxies will now descend without let or hindrance to a state of complete societal dysfunction, just as its political and media elites realise they have become completely impotent through quarantining by the rest of the world, is equally unknown. What is rapidly becoming obvious however, is that the rising tide against the West will be overwhelming and sure to represent the greatest geopolitical tsunami in the history of humankind.

HOW SINCERE IS THE PURPORTED U.S. DEDICATION TO FREEDOM, DEMOCRACY & HUMAN RIGHTS?

It is a truism that you can judge the quality of someone’s character by those they choose to be their friends. Does this hold true for nations also? It appears to be the case that it does when we take a good look at which nations the USA has decided to adopt as friends and allies in recent times.

The USA is none too choosy at times when it comes to aligning itself with others. Dictators and regimes using military violence against their populations have featured highly among those it selects. There is a veritable litany of ugly monsters in Latin America that it has picked out to help gain and maintain power there. Ronald Reagan even found ingenious ways to send financial support to arguably the most bloodthirsty death squad the world has ever had the misfortune to know in Nicaragua, the Contras.

‘During their war against the Nicaraguan government, there were Contras that committed human rights violations and used terrorist tactics. Many of these actions were reported to be carried out systematically as a part of the strategy of the Contras. Supporters of the Contras tried to downplay these violations, particularly the Reagan administration in the U.S., which engaged in a campaign of white propaganda to alter public opinion in favor of the Contras, while covertly encouraging the Contras to attack civilian targets.’ (Wikipedia)

On September 11 1973 the democratically elected president of Chile, Salvador Allende was murdered in a military coup with the assistance of the USA. There followed years of state terror by Augusto Pinochet the dictator the USA could “do business with”.

‘The work that Secretary Henry Kissinger’s State Department had put into the coup — which at one point involved staging a hit on a Chilean diplomat in Washington, D.C. — paid off as soon as Pinochet took power. A huge book of new economic laws called “the brick” fell on Chilean bureaucrats’ desks the morning after the coup, outlining a new capitalist agenda for the country.

Security officials herded labor leaders and other troublemakers into the National Soccer Stadium and forced them to sit in the stands while military police took them down by ones and twos to the field and shot them. Pinochet dispatched Allende ally General Ramos in a helicopter “Caravan of Death” to the north, where he had tens of thousands of “leftists” rounded up and disappeared.

Throughout this period, Chileans could even get arrested and shot for protesting a massive hike in bus fares, as forming a protest group appeared to be “collectivist” behavior. To this day, nobody really knows what happened to the nearly 50,000 people killed by Pinochet’s orderlies.’

In 2002 the U.S. that had befriended the dictators of the Saudi Arabia monarchy assisted their military campaign against one of the most poverty-stricken nations in the entire world, Yemen. This one-sided operation has resulted in a massive death toll over the years but this has not deterred the USA and its allies providing military assistance of every kind to the Saudis. Ironically, in recent times the Saudis have almost completely disassociated themselves from its former “friend”, sought peace in Yemen and joined the BRICS group.

When Saddam Hussein was a convenient friend against America’s enemy Iran they provided every possible assistance including chemical weapons to him. He had provided useful service to the CIA and U.S. administration of an earlier time in arranging the assassination of the

‘While many have thought that Saddam first became involved with U.S. intelligence agencies at the start of the September 1980 Iran-Iraq war, his first contacts with U.S. officials date back to 1959, when he was part of a CIA-authorized six-man squad tasked with assassinating then Iraqi Prime Minister Gen. Abd al-Karim Qasim.’

‘Washington watched in marked dismay as Qasim began to buy arms from the Soviet Union and put his own domestic communists into ministry positions of "real power," according to this official. The domestic instability of the country prompted CIA Director Allan Dulles to say publicly that Iraq was "the most dangerous spot in the world."

In the mid-1980s, Miles Copeland, a veteran CIA operative, told UPI the CIA had enjoyed "close ties" with [the] . . . ruling Baath Party, just as it had close connections with the intelligence service of Egyptian leader Gamel Abd Nassar. In a recent public statement, Roger Morris, a former National Security Council staffer in the 1970s, confirmed this claim, saying that the CIA had chosen the authoritarian and anti-communist Baath Party "as its instrument."

South America in what has been called ‘America’s backyard’ has been a primary area for U.S. operations to prop up and befriend murderous dictators over the years and its Operation Condor facilitated their rise to power and the continuance of that power by all possible means.

‘Operation Condor was a United States-backed campaign of political repression and state terrorism involving intelligence operations, CIA-backed coup d'états, as well as assassinations of left-wing socialist leaders in South America from 1968 to 1989. Operation Condor was officially and formally implemented in November 1975 by the right-wing dictatorships of the Southern Cone of South America.

Due to its clandestine nature, the precise number of deaths directly attributable to Operation Condor is highly disputed. Some estimates are that at least 60,000 deaths can be attributed to Condor,[8] with up to 30,000 of these in Argentina. The Archives of Terror list 50,000 killed, 30,000 disappeared and 400,000 imprisoned.’ (Wikipedia)

The current example, apart from the many others that have almost zero democratic credentials that the U.S. has befriended over the years, is Ukraine. Ukraine has a president that has jailed political opponents and shut down media outlets that offer criticism of him and his policies or who merely use the Russian language in their programming. This friend of the U.S. and its allies has made every attempt to disenfranchise all its Russian speakers and eliminate the language they have spoken for generations.

In addition to the oppression of the Russian-speaking population of Ukraine the precursor to the current Ukrainian regime was brought to power through the ouster of the democratically elected president and government of Ukraine in 2014 through a violent, U.S.-supported insurrection. Activists from the extreme right-wing political party that had lent its full support for the insurrection gained important positions in the illegal regime set up with the help of Victoria Nuland (then U.S. Assistant Secretary of State) and Geoffrey Pyatt (then U.S. Ambassador in Kiev).

The hordes of neo-Nazi militants who had taken over the insurrection on Kiev’s Maidan and killed up to 17 largely unarmed policemen in their successful attempt to overthrow the democratic system of governance in Ukraine have since that time been assimilated into the Ukrainian army. All with the active support and encouragement of the USA and its allies. Subsequent to their involvement in the attack upon the civilian population of the predominantly Russian-speaking region of the Donbass in eastern Ukraine more than 15,000 have died.

On the 24th of February 2022, after seven years where Russia sought to gain security for the Donbass and an end to NATO expansion to its borders and with no movement toward peace and security for either the people of the Donbass or for Russia, Russia began its Special Military Operation to stop the ongoing war against the Russian-speaking population and end the threat to it from NATO.

‘Over the last century, the United States government has often provided, and continues to provide today, financial assistance, education, arms, military training and technical support to numerous authoritarian regimes across the world. A variety of reasons have been provided to justify the apparent contradictions between support for dictators and the democratic ideals expressed in the United States Constitution.’ (Wikipedia)

The following list has 71 entries:

List of authoritarian regimes supported by the United States.

We can see from all of the above that the often stated dedication of the USA and its allies to the ideals of democracy, freedom and human rights represents only a public relations patina designed in an attempt to hide the true ambitions involved regarding their national self-interest and maximising the power and collective influence that western world can exercise over others.

DOES THE USA HAVE THE MOST MISTRUSTED POLITICIANS ON THE PLANET?

Politicians in general are held in very low esteem by the voting public worldwide. This of course is an understatement. They are often actively loathed and despised. There are no doubt many reasons for this perennial view of the political class however, trust, or better said lack of trust is surely the number one reason.

Politicians these days can rarely be trusted to give their honest to goodness views. People sense this. The strong impression is that every statement by a politician is designed to suit rather than to express an honest opinion. Hard questions are circumvented through use of various semantic tricks and even the most straightforward questions receive answers that hide as much or more than they reveal.

This is the general view of politicians worldwide. In the USA however the black arts of politics has long been taken to an entirely new level. Issues tend not to be discussed in anything approaching meaningful detail. Buzzwords, sound bytes and rhetorical flourishes, usually via some form of whataboutism where an opponent is accused as a gambit to avoid any culpability of the party the politician belongs to… on any issue whatsoever. It is always someone else’s fault. No culpability is ever admitted, no matter how obvious it is that guilt lies with whatever politician is being questioned.

Even the responsibility for catastrophic mistakes that have lost a great many lives can be avoided as we have seen in the serious disaster scenarios that have prevailed amid and after the USA’s regime change wars in recent years. No one is held responsible when they go wrong and apparently no lessons are learned. Soon enough we are off to the next war of choice where tens of thousands, even hundreds of thousands die and no one wins but the corporations of America’s military industrial complex. The next promoters of war arrive in Washington in almost unbroken succession and the whole spiral toward death and destruction somewhere in the world far from U.S. shores continues.

Having said all of the above there is now a new dimension to the dislike and indeed loathing for western politicians and for U.S. politicians in particular. Nations across the Global South are now turning their backs upon them. The latest case of this which is producing great angst in Washington apparently is the non-appearance of Xi JinPing, president of China at the forthcoming G20 meeting. He is also, like President Putin of Russia, refusing all calls from the USA and its allies currently. All trust has collapsed. Jinping even expressed this to Biden’s face when he still agreed to talk with him. In essence what he said to Biden is this: You tell me one thing when we speak and then the opposite happens when the call is over. How can you trust someone like that?

Then there are the acts of disguised war that the U.S. and its allies direct toward China and they are numerous, usually masquerading as sanctions. The strong impression is given that the political hierarchy in both the USA and UK believe they can wage war by other means against China and still be able to convince the Chinese that there is something to be gained by talking with them. The old colonial mindset is clearly alive and well in Washington and London, that innate sense of superiority and exceptionalism whereby they are eminently worth listening to despite their word counting for nothing where their actions speak far, far louder than their words.

It would be bad enough that Russia and China now disdain all approaches by a western world they regard as completely untrustworthy but now they are rapidly being joined by ever more nations. Those same nations in many cases who now wish to get onboard eastern institutions by the name of BRICS or Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) rather than continue to be abused, threatened, blackmailed and lied to within eminently untrustworthy western institutions, such as the G20. For far too long these nations have had to suffer humiliation at the hands of western leaders. Now that they have found more trustworthy partners who they can rely upon as stable backers, investors and partners without strings attached and an absence of threat against them they are escaping in droves from the western net.

Trust is key in all that is happening on the geopolitical map currently. Unexpressed mistrust, hidden out of fear of economic, financial and potentially military reprisals by the West built up over decades can now be freely stated with impunity. More importantly these nations can now ACT with impunity, snub their collective noses at the western leaders who they maintained highly dysfunctional and uneasy relationships with out of fear, and regain their full sovereignty and all the independent decision making that comes with full sovereignty. The era of western imperialism and colonialism has essentially ended. We can see this most obviously in Africa where the colonial power France is being told to find the exit door. But also too and on an even grander scale where six new nations have joined BRICS (Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Argentina, Ethiopia Egypt and Iran) and 34 others wait in the wings.

Every now and then a poll is run globally which attempts to assess which nation the world’s population trusts least. The question is always pretty much the same: Which country in your estimation poses the greatest danger to humanity? The answer to this poll each year it is run is invariably the same. The country that interminable heads this poll is the United States of America.

Never were politicians mistrusted more, and clearly the most mistrusted of all reside in the western world and those that are without question trusted least of all are those of the USA. This has quite obviously, by polling results, been the case for a very long time. But it is only now, with the rise of China and Russia that this view can be expressed and acted upon without fear by entire governments. And that, if you think about it for a while, will make all the difference in the world.

THE MODERN WESTERN MALAISE & THE PROSPECT OF FOREVER WARS

Most westerners have seemingly far more important things to do with their time than contemplate anything other than subjects related to work and family, however it can’t have escaped the notice of most that negative factors are increasingly impinging themselves upon them.

It should not be necessary to delineate the negative factors talked of above. There cannot be many who remain totally blissfully ignorant of them and the fact that they are increasing. Those who live in the western world can surely gauge the degree to which factors such as disease, stress, anxiety, social pressure, financial constraints and worries, psychological pressure and other debilitating factors are increasing. And within this already exhausting mental universe western populations are now faced with the prospect of being forever at war.

The heady days of the Sixties where the prospect of a world where humanity advanced on all fronts, where leisure time was increased to allow families greater scope for quality experiences due to a shorter working week, where standards of living would rise with the help of increased incomes, a wide and deep social net and a constant array of new innovations to benefit our lives seem like mere pipe dreams these days. And perhaps they always were. These promises of a better life and more stress-free time away from work where minds are relaxed and the good life is constructed for all by a capitalist economy working for all appear as a sick joke to most now, burdened by the anxieties that now plague the precariat, those who cannot rely on a lifetime of employment.

In combination with the above, those who live and work in the still privileged West (when compared to most other regions) will now have to cope with the deprivations stemming from their leaders waging war against both Russia and China. Already the economic effects are being felt due to the blowback from economic sanctions imposed upon Russia, mainly those related to energy products from Russia, oil and natural gas. Inflation has become a major problem once again in the West due to the war it is waging. Recession looms for many, no one being totally spared and Germany appearing likely as worst hit. Deindustrialisation, already long underway in the West appears certain to be taken to its ultimate limit due to the soaring costs of the energy products it needs for western industry to sustain itself.

The western powers began their regime change wars of choice in the wake of the events of 9/11 and the desire to continue them appears undiminished and growing. The neoconservatives who rose to prominence in the USA after 9/11 continue to wield by far the greatest degree of power in Washington. In fact they appear totally unchallenged at this point. Their fellow-travellers in the United Kingdom appear just as unassailable and those in Europe currently also. These radical zealots for war will not easily be removed. Their hands grip the levers of power with a determination that cannot be assuaged by reason or appeals to any degree of common sense regarding the catastrophic effects of their firmly held dogmas. No amount of logical thought can interrupt the fixed-mindedness clearly evident in the ultra-aggressive policies pursued relentlessly by them.

This all leaves the man and woman on the street and workplaces of the western world in an invidious position. Falling standards of life, increasing stresses and strains, both physical and mental, a disintegrating social and infrastructural matrix around them and ever-increasing psychological burdens where each factor describes feeds off the other.

Our modern malaise is of course man made and in theory could be undone by those men and women who have put it in place. However, so much money is made through the engineering of society this way. The pharmacological industry profits immensely as does the military industrial complex, of the USA and UK in particular. Many feed from the modern malaise and have a vested interest in seeing it continue and heighten. War is extremely good for business as is disease. In recent years many billionaires arose from the two years of world turmoil created by the Covid outbreak. Many scheme now to profit from whatever other fears, whether imaginary or real, afflict humanity in future. It is not in their interests to present solutions, their interests lie in the increase of their bottom line profits, nothing else. The U.S. and UK governments along with those of the EU require the taxes that these factors create. It is a vicious circle that in the end affects everyone in the West one way or another.

War and the threat of war bring vast profits and increased power for the few. Yet many apparently remain ignorant in the West regarding this, still seemingly addicted to their mainstream media sources which promote the very factors that hurt them in both pocket and mental health terms. A new “pandemic” is now being predicted to generate even greater profits for those who successfully manipulate it. The casino capitalist system so beloved of the West is turning it into a wasteland of crumbling infrastructure and impoverished citizens. Meanwhile those fanatically reaping the monetary benefits of this inherit an increasingly diseased region. Their manic obsession to create even more zeros on their bank balances rules all. This is the modern western malaise amid the ever-increasing prospect for western populations of being held in the grip of a forever war.

THE WESTERN TOTALITARIAN COALITION OF COMPLETE NARRATIVE CONTROL

It was a clever move but not without precedent. Those who had read George Orwell’s novel ‘1984’ were (or should have been) very familiar with it. Those who hadn’t… well, most appear to have been taken in, many completely.

The runup to the morphing into a totalitarian controlled zone was gradual. The establishment of that zone required a clear enemy (as in ‘1984’) a perpetual and heinous enemy with no redeeming qualities whatsoever. A source of pure evil and a history of vile deeds that put that enemy beyond the pale. That enemy was relentlessly demonised by every form of media for a decade and a half. Books, magazine and newspaper articles, television programmes, speeches by prominent political figures and by notable pundits and commentators. Any counter arguments to the prevailing narratives promulgated by mass media and senior figures had no meaningful effect. As far as the vast mass of the general public were concerned they had been told the truth and that “truth” was laid in deep in the subconscious by myriad sources relentlessly communicating the same message: “Here is our evil enemy, the enemy you should fear, loathe, hate and wish totally defeated, eliminated and replaced. This enemy cannot be redeemed, no good will come from talking with it. Diplomacy is wasted on it. It should only be tricked, fooled, confused, and relentlessly attacked until it is no more.

This tactic, employed consistently since 2007 worked all but perfectly. The only ones not conditioned completely by the relentlessly negative targeting of them were those who had an interest in geopolitics and had observed how half-truths and downright lies had become a weapon of war in the two decades before when a series of nations were attacked in one form or another by use of deceptive and dishonest means. Most people however had remained largely oblivious to the lies they were told during this time, either didn’t care much or firmly believed the lies were true and supported each and every attack or invasion. The majority of western populations then were open to a fresh series of conditioning messages broadcast from every possible media source and elite communication. Despite all the fabrications of the past two decades the new fabrications passed for truth with the majority, indeed with almost everyone. The percentage of skeptics was undoubtedly extremely low.

So, the groundwork was laid for the next push by those who had held the levers of power regarding the regime change wars of choice that had gone before. They or those who took their place and held the same stances regarding foreign policy as those they replaced. The necessity to destroy the enemy was held as a sacrosanct and unquestionable fixed idea. To rebel against it meant career suicide and was totally unthinkable. To demonstrate that you were the most fervent believer in that necessity was the path to ever-greater success, job advancement and all-round acceptance by your peers. In this way the coming totalitarian environment for the general population began with its installation in all the corridors of power across the West.

What were the reasons for such a dramatic shift in behaviour? Western state institutions had always been highly conservative and used to a certain degree of uniformity in thinking… but at the same time it was realised that complete uniformity might lead to blind spots where reality was obscured by dogma and fixed modes of thinking. Specialist teams in the UK Foreign Office and U.S. StateDepartment along with similar components in the UK MI5/6 and CIA had performed similar functions. By 2011 however, all were to be politicised and very soon after virtually all mass media also. From then on there would one single view, one series of narratives and, for the time being one single enemy. But why? Why do this to a system that had by and large worked well for you over centuries? Why turn a complex world of colourful geopolitical realities into one simple black and white fabrication?

Because the worst thing imaginable was going to happen to you. You were going to become impotent, weak and no longer able to have your way. The entire proud edifice of western power was clearly at enormous risk. The political, economic and military power and influence of the West was in imminent threat of dissolution in geopolitical terms threat. It was clear that within thirty years at most what had been built up over the previous three hundred would be totally lost. Those first would soon be last. All the status, the power, the pride, the “glorious” history, the right to govern, to manipulate, exploit, punish, obliterate, denigrate and push around would be gone… forever, never to return. Powers were seen to be rising that would take it all away, every last prideful and sexy, glorious and self-appointed, enriching and empowering, chest-puffing and status-ensuring reason for being what it was always assumed they would be forever and a day, special, exceptional and always, superior. The warders of the world would lose their place. The global cops would be retired and told to stay home. It was utterly unacceptable.

And so here we are. What was seen thirty years ago to be coming has arrived. Ironically brought on in a significant degree by the very actions designed to thwart it. The western elites, the power junkies that they have become over centuries, are losing their fix. And we all know what happens when a junkie begins to lose his or her fix. Desperation sets in. A willingness to contemplate acts that would have been eschewed in times of plenty. And, as the fix became ever more endangered all aspects of earlier relatively reasonable and ethical behaviour began to be dispensed with. Torture began to be used and semantic exercises indulged in to justify it. Wars were initiated along with invasions and attacks of many kinds both overt and covert, some using terrorist proxies. All leading to the point where no holds were barred at all. And this is also where we are now.

One of the primary weapons of these times where nothing is “off the table” is the creation of a coalition of states where the truth is what the agreed narrative is as decided by the coalition leader. In the case of the western states this is of course the USA, the state with most to lose by the rise of those who would inexorably take away its power, as foreseen all those years ago when the plans to counteract their development and to contain them were laid. The most potent element of the “truth” broadcast by all possible means was of course that about the enemy. That “truth” was paramount in creating the obedient states necessary to fight the enemy and to submit their taxes, energies and end of their life ambitions to the task of defeating that enemy without let or hindrance. And this is also where we are now. In a fight to the death with no Plan B, no questioning of the need to press onward, no matter the cost, even if the cost is the end of life itself as it has existed on this planet. Anything is better for the elites driving this juggernaut than losing the power and all that comes with it that they have enjoyed for so very long and cannot for even a second contemplate losing.

‘1984’ is recommended reading, to see where this leads, to understand what a totalitarian regime is capable of doing to its citizens. And then to consider the message of ‘1984’ in our present era where the use of strategic nuclear weapons is seen by some as yet another way to “win”...
