WHAT IS IT WITH CHINA?

China is always in the news these days.

There are continual complaints talking of various threats regarding China, with sanctions placed upon it or its business interests.

What is the underlying reason for all this?

Is China a real threat the way western elites are making the case for? Or, is all this a smokescreen for a much greater threat that in truth has nothing to do with any evil intention on the part of China?

I believe the truth is bound up with the latter case, that all we are seeing now is a smokescreen for something else.

What could it be?

In my view it comes down to two simple to understand factors and one underlying and very persistent meme.

First, the underlying meme:

The elites of the West consider themselves exceptional. That’s right, this consideration is not limited to the elites of the USA, it is held broadly across what we loosely call the West. These elites uniformly consider that they are the guardians of all that is good in the world, the guardians of liberty, the defenders of freedom, human rights and most of all, of democracy. They look down on all those not signed up to their version of perfection with great suspicion. This preceded WWII but has been especially pronounced since then and of course throughout the Cold War when the West was named by its own elites, ‘The Free World’. The U.S. elites took the lead in the furtherance of this exceptionalist meme and came to be most identified with it as ‘the World’s Policeman’.

The Cold War ended for a variety of reasons. A New Era was celebrated. Ex-Warsaw Pact nations joined the EU and NATO. Even the reborn Russian Federation inquired via Putin if it too could join one or both. Things seemed to have calmed right down and a new leaf turned where agreements could be reached to prevent such a thing as a Cold War ever occurring again.

This period sadly ended with the most devastating event in terms of global repercussions we have seen in our lifetimes. And this is the first of the two points which I recommend to you as th answers regarding where we are now and why China is in the headlines almost daily.

1) 9/11 & Full Spectrum Dominance

9/11 gave rise to the quest for full spectrum dominance by the U.S. elites as the only comprehensive answer to the possibility/likelihood of further attacks upon America. They determined they had to have an overview on everything and if possible control of everything plus an urgent need to eliminate or at least hugely weaken any perceived sources of potential attack. As they perceived it, anything less would leave the USA vulnerable to that degree of unfinished business, those remaining uncontrolled areas of threat. Naturally the ultimate by-product of such a quest would be a de facto prison planet with the U.S. elites as jailers. But, in Madeleine Albright’s words in another context, this was considered “a price worth paying”, especially as they would not have to pay it.

2) China Rising

This relates directly to 1) above. China is the main entity standing in the way of the U.S. elites goal of gaining full spectrum dominance in order to establish total overview, ability to monitor and control and to minimize, indeed nullify the threat from every potential source. This is rather obvious and the importance of 1) above cannot be overstated. As a policy it is sacrosanct and it will have been made very clear to Donald Trump that it is sacrosanct, that neither he nor any other American president will EVER be allowed to modify it, let alone end it. The very security of the USA depends upon its total eventual success he will have been told. This is , ‘The Forever War’ they speak of . The rise of China stands front and center as far and away the largest, most formidable to this must attain, set in concrete policy. Therefore China must be stopped.

I do not believe China has any particular ulterior motives in seeking to increase its trading potential. Like Russia under Putin it is solely seeking to improve the lot of its citizens... something it has been doing increasingly well over the past several decades.

Unfortunately for China 9/11 happened and the decision that full spectrum dominance at all costs was seen as the ONLY ultimate guarantor of U.S. security means that these nations were set on a collision course from 9/11 until now and into the foreseeable future. As the U.S. elites see it China is the biggest problem in achieving total national security for the USA and in seeing this they need not take any other factors into consideration. China must be brought down, end of story.

To the detriment of the entire world... just when we need to be unified against the serious threats facing us, currently the pandemic and heading towards us ever faster, human-caused climate change. But ‘America First’ won’t go away if Biden wins in November. ‘America First’ is very much here to stay.

(Russiagate in contrast with the economic war against China is a sideshow bound in with Clinton’s animus toward Vladimir Putin and as a fig leaf over her embarrassment in being beaten to the presidency by a reality show personality with a big mouth who expressed glee in humiliating her. Russia still has a relatively small economy and Putin has bemusedly been trying to get on with business there while saving Syria from a  complete collapse into anarchy and the takeover there of the kind of terrorists took over Afghanistan in the Eighties, assisted by the USA.)
