With centralized control in China Covid was quickly isolated and brought to a manageable condition. Any further outbreaks would quickly be dealt with in the same uncompromising manner.
If the communist leadership ever fails the citizenry of China in any major way such as through the handling of a pandemic they know their position would instantly be in peril.
In the West, with politicians only having a four-year dictatorship at the acquiescence of their donors, with politicians being career-minded with eyes on later positions on boards of directors of Defense or Banking institutions, and usually with no particular interest in their flock of fickle citizens many of whom don’t support them, the situation is entirely different.
Covid brought a headless chicken fest among western politicians, each severed head squawking its own clucking nonsense. This was once it hit them that it was not going to remain a Chinese problem of course. When it reached their shores they saw several problems concurrently.
1. They were at risk. Yes THEY were at risk.
They would be shown to be frauds who were in fact totally incompetent fly-by-nights who had self-interested political ambitions but not so much for solving the myriad problems of their constituents. What the Hell were they going to do and say??
2. They had prevaricated even when seeing what a MAJOR problem Covid was.
China was acting fast and furious in dealing with what was recognized as a major threat once the data was fully in and there could be no remaining doubt. Two entire hospitals for the sick and were built in two weeks. The population of Wuhan was locked down and screened relentlessly for the virus.
Western politicians looked on... their hands firmly sat upon, smiling privately at China’s discomfort, eager to see the virus spread there and do what they had been attempting to do by other means, weaken China’s rise through her (to their eyes) enviable economic growth.
3. They could not bring themselves to listen to scientific advice and act accordingly.
Theories abounded but the virologists were united on certain issue regarding the virus. But politicians being politicians they wanted to seem to be the ones in control. Their super-sized egos could not bring them to relinquish control over the Covid agenda.
Happily for the Swedish population their politicians bowed out entirely and let the experts advise the population of Sweden. They still do so to this day.
As the Austrians sometimes say, a Schweinerai then took place.

Each western politician in leadership positions started concocting their own personal “solutions” instead of agreeing on a common policy after consulting with the relevant scientific authorities. Time and time again when some internationally threatening situation occurs the so-called 'International Community’ (in effect western leaders) gather for a conference to discuss the best, unified way forward.
You may well ask why this was not arranged. My guess is that the politicians involved the perception to be that they were the ‘Little Churchills’ in heroic control, the masterful individuals who would lead their populations to safety.
Trump was of course the most malignant and incompetent, delusional and wholly counter-productive example of this, followed closely by Boris Johnson of Britain.
And so it has gone on since they suddenly “woke up” months after China had been determinedly fighting the threat with everything to hand. They begin to dither and discuss with fellow political con-artists what they might do to seem in control.
Nothing has worked. Precisely nothing has worked. Only endless confusion has been sown. Fears have not been assuaged by determined action. A patchwork policy has been pursued. And the virus continues to wreak havoc in their nations.
It must be hoped that the lessons involved have been learned.
Not by western politicians. They are incapable of that, lost as they are in their own self-interested ambitions.
Among the populations of the West, those who have been hit hardest by the virus, those who have been largely abandoned to their fate by politicians who truly, in the words of George Carlin, “Don’t give a fuck about you!”
These are the creatures of the West that occupy an elite position where their focus is narrowly upon their fellow elites if they even manage to divorce a tiny portion of their attention away from themselves.
These are the utterly self-interested incompetent elites who are in control across the western world. These are the culprits causing your despair. They are the West-ubiquitous Covid Con-Artists.
