 UNITY OR CATASTROPHE | THE CHOICE FOR WESTERN ELITES

The elites of the western world in recent years have been seeking to point out, exploit and widen divisions in the world.

Their motivations for doing this have been diverse, from the goal to undermine systems of governance dissimilar to theirs, to pure self-interest in economic terms to a desire to bolster geopolitical ties with a view to creating a united front against perceived enemies.

The result is an increasingly divided and fractious world where war as an early solution arrives as a result of fostered misunderstandings the West has no desire to heal.

During the Cold War dialogue continued between the two major superpowers of the time, the USA and the Soviet Union. It was recognized that to avoid a third world war some degree of mutual toleration through dialogue was necessary for the sake of continued peace.

This degree of willingness to allow for differences in systems of governance has now vanished.

The primary cause of this was 9/11 after which it was agreed by the U.S. elites of the time that no toleration for individuals or nations not in compliance with U.S. requirements for total security could be tolerated.

All arms of U.S. government were to be turned into weapons, tools for the war against all entities were perceived as a threat to the USA as the supreme world power in the unipolar world envisaged as the only tolerable future by U.S. elites.

This meant that every difference between target entities and western systems and values were to be emphasized in a demonization process and any areas of similarity de-emphasized and negated. Target entities were to be portrayed as pejoratively as possible, framed as dangerous, interfering deceivers, bad actors, debased and malign with a cynical disregard for human lives or rights. Sub-humans and authoritarian states that needed to be eliminated before the beneficent era of western liberal values could be bestowed upon their populations.

Western diplomacy died in the days after 9/11. Don’t mistake certain chess moves that masquerade as diplomacy now for the real thing. True diplomacy, dialogue underpinned by mutual respect... and of course it goes without saying, detente are all completely dead. They serve no useful purpose for a USA or its allies where an all or nothing policy is in place to establish total supremacy. Under the surface of what some might term diplomacy you will only find demands. Demands that require conformity to western needs emphasizing how unacceptable are any differences or divergences from the systems and values of the West.

The elites of the western world have determined that they can no longer abide systems of governance that are not in conformity with their versions of democracy. To debate with nations not in compliance in order to achieve mutual understanding and tolerance is of no interest to them. Their determination is to point out how evil those ‘over there’ are and therefore how important and justified it is that they act to eliminate them completely.

This is happening at the precise time when the humanity requires unity of purpose more than at any time in its history.

The pandemic has thrown this need into stark relief.

Chinese unity has been demonstrated as never before.

Western disunity likewise.

The catastrophes predicted for human-caused climate change await just over the horizon.

This while the western world foments a third world war flinging the window of human vulnerability wide open, bringing on the threat of mass extinction.

Meanwhile Russia and China urge non-violence, tolerance, the emphasis of similarity, modes of agreement, not aggression, arbitration of disputes, cooperation and unity of purpose wherever and whenever possible.

What can possibly occur to make the western elites, traumatized into these terminally divisive and destructive policies by 9/11, realize the peril they are opening humanity to before it is too late?

This is what faces them and the rest of the world at this most critical juncture for us all.
