THE NEOCON ZEALOTS CONTINUE TO PREVAIL IN WASHINGTON

As Donald Trump was elected I predicted that he would have an almost impossible task in finding anyone for major positions that was not a product of the change that swept through U.S. power structures post 9/11.

What future was there for those with an inclination to be peacemakers, looking for agreements as opposed to areas of confrontation? Without doubt those that did not immediately change their statements if not their mindset to one of aggressive confrontation were parked on their career paths, dismissed or forced to seek alternate employment by their own volition.

Those with a warlike disposition were undoubtedly promoted, whole departments were politicised and an overarching seachange in mentality was achieved right across the State Department and all others relevant in any way to foreign policy. This undoubtedly remains the case to this day and subsequently puts the entire world on the most dangerous course seen, arguably ever.

Biden, like Trump, has a history of being a highly manipulative thug not averse at all to the use of extremely heightened levels of aggression to get his way. However, there are signs that Biden has to some extent learned the lessons required in recent years, indeed decades, to chasten his most aggressive instincts. In short, he has become much less of a neoconservative after seeing at first hand the disastrous consequences of neoconservative policies, i.e. extreme aggression leading irresponsibly to disastrous wars in an attempt to achieve regime change.

Biden is in much the same position as Trump due to the fact that the State Department and no doubt every department of importance connected to foreign policy remains utterly opposed to any lessening of the neoconservative project to achieve full spectrum dominance worldwide through the unlimited exercise of U.S. power.

It appears most certainly to be the case that the massively greater power held by the overwhelming neoconservative majority can negate any ameliorative effects any U.S. president may have on the confrontational policy America has pursued since 9/11. In this way, no faith should be placed in any seeming outreach by the most prominent public figures that head the present U.S. administration and presumably any to come in the foreseeable future.

The neocons see any change as good change no matter what murderous or destructive effects they may have in the short term. Their narrow view is that there ought to be zero compromise and total confrontation and that these two tactics are the sole way forward that excludes the possibility of the status quo in any way prevailing. It appears to be the case that to them the destruction of the entire means of organized human life is preferable to the anathema that is for them the continuance of the present geopolitical status quo.

It can be no coincidence that those with an extreme religious fervour in the United States and those within the State Department and elsewhere across U.S. power structures have so very much in common. The all-or-nothing, no-compromise mindset and viewpoint held by both brook no opposition, not even that by their own president.
