CHANGING HORSES - THE EMERGENCE OF A NEW GEOPOLITICAL PARADIGM

Each day now brings with it more evidence that the power of the West to dominate world affairs is ending.

The western elites who form the current array of would-be global geopolitical architects are struggling to maintain their position.

Despite their obvious incompetence and disastrous foreign policy decisions going back many decades now the strength of their economies have kept them in place. This is now rapidly changing.

The rise of China and the reemergence of Russia as a world power is sucking the power from the would-be western dictators who have determined how the world should be run until now.

Economic strength rather than democratically-agreed compliance by affected states has allowed western elites to control our world to this point in time and it is quite obvious that this economic strength is now waning and being eclipsed.

A milieu of unwarranted exceptionalist belief systems have grown over time in the West, resulting in a group-thought mentality within its elites where they believe they can do no wrong and no competitor can do right. The shock of finding out that not only is this mentality being resolutely challenged by Russia and China but effectively so is causing various emotions from disbelief to rage to horror within the ranks of western elites.

This situation is entirely new. Not even the confrontation between the Soviet Union and western powers during the Cold War can parallel the present situation. These two power blocs existed in a somewhat stable relationship with neither appearing likely to overcome the other. Ultimately it was the economic and political instability within the Soviet Union that toppled it rather than the efforts of the West. Though there is a partial parallel in the economic field it still does not amount to a full comparison to the current situation.

If present trends continue we will see a massive shrinkage in the ability of western powers to dictate global events and indeed this shrinkage is likely to be of such an extent that it may disappear entirely, evident only in relation to minor and very local events close to the present great powers of the West.

The change now occurring appears totally unstoppable although western elites have done all they can, and continue to do all they can, to stop it. They have used every covert, overt and dirty trick to hinder the coming global change in influence. They see their interests being overtaken, their ability to manipulate nation-states reduced, their techniques of domination diminished, their arm-twisting abilities atrophied and their influence collapsing. And all this with increasing momentum.

Empires rise and they inevitably fall. The genesis of their decline and collapse can be found in their attitudes of hubris and malign activity that dually make them ever more blind and prone to ever greater mistakes. The mirage of superiority dissipates slowly, kept in place for far too long by self-deceiving myopia. Ultimately their own ignorance, arrogance and willingness to lose all sight of integrity or truly civilized values causes them to topple and fall, never to rise again.

With the collapse of the western domination of world affairs China and Russia will take up the mantle in a wholly different manner. Seeking agreement, not emphasising disagreement will be the order of the day, tolerance of divergent political systems and modes of governance will be the standard approach where common ground is sought, trade and improving the lives of all populations will be core issues in each case and the highest standards of diplomacy and respect for sovereignty will be maintained and emphasised at all times.

We stand at the dawning of a new era, one where war can be consigned to a past that rapidly becomes a dim and unpleasant memory, where the people of the world can unite in common purpose unalloyed by a western elite presence seeking to dominate nations for its own self-interest. The world in short that idealists among us have always sought and longed for. A world at peace, a world of tolerance and prosperity, a world where all can unite as one species determined to do what is right one to another.
