However, the way its society and culture was formed, and considering the criminal cynicism at its heart, perhaps it simply had to be.
The simplistic, you could say primitive streak within U.S. society means that most issues are seen in black and white, plain and simple, right and wrong. It appears most Americans can’t rise to anything approaching a nuanced overview. This is hardly surprising since almost every element of their media encourages this myopically dualist mindset.
When every problem is seen as a nail each solution has to be a hammer. This neanderthal approach to life’s diverse situations has always dogged the least intelligent of America’s denizens.
The Homer Simpson level of dull stupidity is all too common and can be found at levels high and low. But even the most intelligent Americans can be found expounding the most off-the-rails conspiracy theories and paranoid notions concerning “foreign enemies”. And yet. And yet! You will find few Americans who don’t think they and their country is the best in the world, most loved by their God and a boon to all others, a savior under Christ, the hope of the world and the bringer of freedom and democracy.
But wait. Wait! Now they see the chaos erupting once again in their midst. Riots in the streets, uncaring, self-interested politicians, a mad president and a middle and working class that continues to suffer stagnant wages while prices soar and oligarchs become richer than Croesus. They see their Capitol building invaded with some help by their guardians the police. They hear of plots and endless discord between politicians of both parties and politicians of the same party. Meanwhile they get almost no help to survive the deadliest virus to hit America for two generations. They will soon be ejected from their homes after losing their jobs and health care. What an exceptional country! What a wondrous system of governance! What a total failure.
For decades now American industry has been failing, propped up by those Trump loves to hate, the Chinese. Infrastructure is decaying, factories are closing, innovation is stalled while PR, finance and speculation rule the economy, boosting a tiny percentage on Wall Street at the expense of everyone else. Manufacturing is in precipitous decline, jobs are disappearing overseas in a flood. The U.S. economy, the real economy, is tanking. The pain will be taken by the 99% while of course, the 1% will hardly feel a thing. How very exceptional.
Thank goodness it IS exceptional, that the USA is the exception to have no decent health care for all citizens, to have the most predatory and ruthless speculator class of anywhere planet-wide, exceptional in spending absolute fortunes year on year on the most useless items it could ever buy, more and more weapons of every description and an army of poverty-stricken slave volunteers to use them.
This is the time when Americans could perhaps be expected to look at themselves and their systems of government, at the way they keep getting fleeced by those who are at the top and are determined to keep it that way, and at the manner in which wars abroad are decimating the blood and treasure they hold most dear. You might hope they’d take another look at their failing society, their chaotic instincts and aggression driving everything decent from their lives in a lust for the fast disappearing American dream where they tear each other apart just to grasp onto that flickering, dying light before it is finally snuffed out for good. For the USA is dying. Other nations are rising to eclipse it in every possible way.
But do these thoughts occur in any sensible way within most American heads? I believe not. Instead I predict we will see a surge of scapegoating, a desire to look outside U.S. boundaries for the culprits, led by leaders and elites who find it very convenient to direct attention away from themselves.
Americans will be encouraged once again to think in black and white terms, good and evil, right and wrong... and as ever they will be encouraged to think they are right and that some others ‘over there’ did them wrong. We have seen this tactic used by the Democrats OUT of power and I predict we will see it again with them IN power.
Will it require a catastrophic false flag event on U.S. soil? Perhaps, but not necessarily. The CIA are more than capable of devising a death-dealing event elsewhere. Too many theories now include 9/11 in the false flag category. Who will get the blame this time? On 9/11 the Saudis escaped almost all of it. How convenient that was for the U.S. defense industry. And how convenient it was also for U.S. elites at that time to have an opportunity to flex muscles and destroy so many semi-socialist nations in the Middle East for the benefit of Israel.
The calculation may well be that America can spend as much borrowed money as it likes to achieve its goals. No amount of chaos, death and destruction will be seen as too much as long as American goals are seen to be achieved, keeping others weak or destroyed for the preservation of U.S. and allied power to dominate all other nations.
And you can be sure that the often two-tone American mind will be manipulated just as hard as at any time before. CNN and all the other state stenographer news media will frame all actions in glorious black and white with the good, freedom-loving Americans bringing democracy to the heathens after blasting hundreds of thousands of them to hell.
It will be simply wonderful for morale once again as there will be no need for Americans to die. The new war on the next weaker nation chosen will be waged using drone warriors safe in their comfortable seats in the Nevada desert. Planes and carriers flying far out of reach of defenses will send their missiles to decimate thousands at a single stroke, knock out power plants and diverse other items of infrastructure at whatever the cost to the populations below.
All cheered on heroically by a large number of neanderthal-minded Americans glorying in a little temporary distraction and applause-generating explosions as families far away lose their lives. The victory of senseless violence so deeply ingrained in American culture will be revived to keep injecting the same adrenaline of cathartic pleasure into the brain-space that good sense should occupy.
The black and white world based in the heart of certain Americans since the inception of their nation will be suffused with life once again. Their eternal justification of mindless violence in a “good cause” will take the place of self-criticism one more time as they retreat yet again into the delusion that they are indisputably and perpetually extremely superior to all others.
It'll all be there, straight from the latest drone, in "glorious", grainy, black and white.
