THE ENEMY WITHIN

George W. Bush began the route to here, pushed into it by what was seen as the necessary response to the devastating shock that the USA was not immune to blowback, 9/11.

Bush and all those who were among that time’s top echelon of security state advisers, state department officials, CIA execs, military top brass and of course the most senior politicians, president, vice president, the secretary of state and others all met to agree the way forward.

The shock of 9/11 to those in the most senior positions at the time cannot be overestimated. They had all been exposed to one degree or another as incompetent. They had to show their competence at least in response and that response had to be a MAJOR response, a DRAMATIC and EYE-CATCHING response. None of the responses that followed were solely designed to make America safe again. That was part of them, of course it was, whether misguided and counterproductive, that was in part the reason for them. But a major part was nothing to do with this, it was to do with shoring up their images and not only their images but the image of the USA as a nation capable of dominating and controlling world events.

This endeavor, to maintain the USA as the primary disciplinary force and preeminent economic driver and manipulator of world finance, commerce and diplomatic muscle was recognized as existentially vital. All factors were linked. Without the continuance of its economic muscle and its grip on financial transactions through the dollar as the world’s trading currency too many other dominoes affecting military strength, diplomatic reach and the maintenance of western patrician dominance would be threatened and inevitably reduced. This could not be tolerated.

The decision was made then and there in those frantic days of discussion immediately after 9/11 that the one thing they could not afford was a PARTIAL solution. It had to be all inclusive and it had to be pushed hard and without qualification. There would be nothing left out of the solution to all of the above due to moral or ethical grounds or due to any agreements in accordance with international law, human rights law or any other inhibiting factor. The United Nations was to be manipulated if it became necessary for public relations requirements to push subsequent actions through though it was originally hoped it could be bypassed altogether.

The decision made can be summarized in a single paragraph:

Every individual, entity or nation that showed even the slightest resistance to U.S. dominance was to be taken down. No methodology whatsoever, of whatever type, legal or illegal, ethical or not, would be rejected in the furtherance of this task. This endeavor would not be time limited in any way but instead carried out into the indeterminate future until America was safe from every threat out there.

The above required an overarching goal both while the tasks above were accomplished and afterwards. This was the gaining of ‘Full Spectrum Dominance’, that is, total global oversight, unhindered and comprehensive, the ability to monitor every channel of communication and react swiftly to neutralize all entities liable to threaten the USA in any way.

We all know what happened after 9/11, the attacks, the invasions, the mass death, destruction and subsequent chaos across the fractured nations of the Middle East, the rise of ISIS and the continuing instability across those nations. Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Syria and Yemen.

In the previous administrations of Bush then Obama the concentration was predominantly focused overseas. Critics at home, few though they may have been, especially in the Bush years, were sidelined and slandered and spoken of almost as traitors. Obama rose up on an anti-war platform as the U.S. population grew sick and tired of the endless wars with all the costs involved in terms of both blood and treasure. U.S. infrastructure was degrading and dollars and jobs were flooding overseas. Times at home were getting harder and harder.

Then the USA (and the world) got Trump. Like Obama he simply USED the discontent he found to parade a list of what he thought would be believable solutions. Many millions of Americans utterly sick of how things had gone over the previous administrations were understandably convinced (due to wishful thinking and deep analysis by those using Trump, Bannon and others to find the right buttons to push). The anti-war button was pushed. The outsourcing of jobs button was pushed. The blame game against immigrants was pushed. The prejudice against foreigner button was pushed (including Mexicans, Chinese and all Muslims).

The focus generally remained on the effects of those overseas harming, or having the potential to harm, America and the American people. Trump played those desperate for change like a violin. His experience as a totally unscrupulous business crook served him very well. He knew well about the power of lies to generate an alternative reality as all skilled con-artists do, it is their main stock in trade. He knew how to build resentments and how to use attack statements to undermine any who didn’t do what he wanted them to. He had done this in his career as a totally unscrupulous, highly cunning, business operative deploying the most unethical and evil criminal and terminally cynical, money-heads and power-junkies around.

Trump’s enemies were comprised of anyone who ever contradicted him or stood in his way. Whether that was a fellow Republican (Trump has been both Democrat and Republican in his career) or a member of the fraternity he despised most, America’s liberal mainstream media, it didn’t matter one whit to him.

This is where the focus shifted from overseas to enemies at home (whether real, imagined or simply those of Trump in his own mind). This, over his four year,s in office drove an already polarized America into a virtual battleground with two opposing armies.

Now Biden comes to power. And as I have said in an article elsewhere a liberal totalitarianism rises mostly in response to the extremes generated by Trump’s polarization of American society. The opposing army had won and would take no prisoners. In a composite snarling face it would look at all those in the defeated army as dangerous, as traitors to their nation, and as domestic terrorists in some cases.

The elites of the USA and many millions within its population have gone from one extreme to another over many administrations now. But it has never been as bad as this. We are now at Battlefield America where politics has virtually been replaced by the rules of war. The platforms where the opposing army discusses tactics and organizes itself are being shut down. People who see the wildly swinging pendulum from one extreme to another and voice their concerns are being shut down. Those who are anti-war are seen as having been brainwashed by Trumpism, not as being sane people seeking peace instead of perpetual and counterproductive violence. Seeking agreement with those who have divergent governance from western nations are being nullified and warmongers are being put in prominent positions.

In war mode you don’t allow those at home to speak against the war effort. Biden and his people will use this justification to shut down as much dissent as they can and will use the collective might of liberal mainstream media to assist.

They will say ‘The Free World’ is under attack and that those not conforming to how the USA wants things are doing the attacking and must be fought with everything the West has in its power. We will see the revival of the ethos which came immediately after 9/11. And all critics who try to talk sense urging cooperation not confrontation will all be tarred with the same brush and named and shamed as traitors.

The West pushing for the elimination of all those individuals, entities and national leaders not conforming to U.S. wishes will continue. As I said near the start the 9/11 protocols have one and only one goal and until that goal is accomplished or the USA has sunk so far into chaos and economic disaster itself, it will never be countermanded. The enemy will be considered to be out there always, the fear of enemies constantly looking for ways to attack America and western values will be reiterated again and again.

And the focus will not only be on those overseas “enemies” over the years to come... they will be on those “enemies” within also.
