‘The West has a duty to make sure (fill in the blank) succeeds, not least because we have consistently failed since the Cold War to support such allies. And each failure inevitably leads to more bullying as Russia bullying Georgia inevitably led to Russia bullying Ukraine.’
Such paragraphs as the one above scream for the elephant in the room to be at least tentatively observed out of the corner of one eye.
That elephant being of course that the USA has had an absolutely devastating effect on the entire Middle East over the past two decades, and much further back if we include the coup in Iran back in 1953.
Not that the Middle East has been the only domain to have the dubious pleasure of western attention. Vast tracts of the entire world have been scarred at various times by the two great and exceptional powers who believe the world is their personal fiefdom.
Looking down from high above feels like the natural vantage point for such ego-fueled creatures of noxious habit. Peering through the tinted microscope of their own desires and lust for others’ resources has blinded them to any personal insight which might lead to self-questioning or analysis.
The starting point is always an assumption of purity, of good intent. Even if hundreds of thousands should die in the process, to them the intent is the important thing. And that “important thing” is often a lie, a charade and facade, a fig-leaf western elites hide behind so that their dirty work can have some sort of appearance of sanctity.
Looking back over the activities of the USA and the British Isles in times past it appears genocide, slavery and the ruthless exploitation of other nations and peoples just somehow “happened” under their noses. Presumably while praying to their god or thinking they were involved in “good works”?
None of their deeds of times past bother them in the least. They are not even treated as footnotes. The pages are in fact blank where these atrocities, genocidal brutalities, ruthless exploitation and cynical abandonment of all human rights should be writ large.
Each day a fresh page is written... conveniently turned to invisible ink if things go wrong and a few thousand or hundred thousand foreigners with dark skins die as a result. Nothing must be allowed to get in the way of justifying the next crime against humanity and the next after that.
A group-thought mentality merges with self-censorship in unholy wedlock when a mainstream media funnels the narratives of western states exactly as it wishes them to be broadcast. It is this mindset which leads to the jingoistic nationalism we have seen time and time again from the West and undoubtedly will continue to see until it is gradually quarantined by China with Russia by her side.
Until then expect more atrocity accompanied by spurious justification, the delivery of views rather than news and an incessant flow of poisonous claptrap posing as criticisms of those doing ‘bad things' 'over there’. Such observations stem from a myopic sewer of racist prejudice which is embedded deep within the western elite psyche which has abandoned thinking on a holistic level altogether.
That western observers have the timidity to talk as virtual saints, mouthpieces of purity with the blood-soaked history of their nations is breathtaking and galling in equal measure. That their myopia has clearly extended to the level of almost total blindness regarding the crimes of their own elites is nothing short of stunning.
