On May 12, 1996, Albright defended UN sanctions against Iraq on a 60 Minutes segment in which Lesley Stahl asked her, "We have heard that half a million children have died. I mean, that's more children than died in Hiroshima. And, you know, is the price worth it?" and Albright replied, "We think the price is worth it."[

The human rights issue has been long identified by western elites as an excellent weapon with which to undermine targeted leaders, governments and systems of governance. It has proven a very effective cover story for its crimes against international law regarding interference within sovereign states.
The weaponizing of human rights and the attempted weaponizing of humanitarian aid (most recently in Venezuela) along with sanctions regimes which cause the death of tens if not hundreds of thousands (again most recently in Venezuela) amount to crimes against humanity but are granted immunity from prosecution by institutions funded by the same states perpetrating them.
Due to the corrupting influence of western states within the non-governmental agencies that generally pontificate on the subject of human rights and related matters the western world receives a skewed overview amounting to conditioning propaganda. This is exacerbated by the general elite consensus in the West that allows it, with no universal mandate, to preside over the rest of the world in a kind of master-pupil relationship, at least as reported within western mainstream media.
Western audiences have become highly sensitized regarding the many sub-issues concerning human rights and this hypersensitivity has been ruthlessly targeted by western elites in their push for regime change. This was most clearly demonstrated during the height of the conflict in Syria. Western sensibilities were mercilessly pounded day after day with imagery and hyperbole targeting certain well-known emotional buttons.
Manufacturing of consent for regime change operations and indeed all the covert and overt acts of war engaged in by the West is a factor explained in detail by Noam Chomsky and Edward S. Herman in their book of the same name. The techniques involved are the most deeply cynical imaginable and follow the precepts of ‘All’s fair in love and war’ and ‘The first casualty of war is truth’ to the letter.
In 2010 Wikileaks published a CIA document outlining tactics to shore up support for the failing war in Afghanistan:
‘CIA analysis from March outlines possible PR strategies to shore up public support in Germany and France for a continued war in Afghanistan. After the Dutch government fell on the issue of Dutch troops in Afghanistan, the CIA became worried that similar events could happen in the countries that post the third and fourth largest troop contingents to the ISAF mission. The proposed PR strategies focus on pressure points that have been identified within these countries. For France it is the sympathy of the public for Afghan refugees and women. For Germany it is the fear of the consequences of defeat (drugs, more refugees, terrorism) as well as for Germany's standing in NATO. The memo is a recipe for the targeted manipulation of public opinion in two NATO ally countries, written by the CIA. It is classified as Confidential/No Foreign Nationals.’
The most pronounced and extensive use of conditioning regarding human rights issues was however the formation, funding and weaponizing of the supposed rescue organization, The White Helmets in Syria. It represents the natural evolution endpoint of the ‘human rights as a weapon for regime change’ tactic.
Everything about the White Helmets scheme worked in its favour.
A western audience still largely holding its mainstream media news entities in relatively high esteem, still willing to believe what they say.
An array of anti-government activists within Syria more than willing to supply and confirm all the conditioning statements required.
The White Helmets organization, supplied with a massive budget and every possible technological device to relay the desired content.
A transfer-entity to mainstream media named ‘The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights’ consisting primarily of a single individual.
‘The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights is run by "Rami Abdulrahman" (sometimes referred to as Rami Abdul Rahman), from his home in Coventry. Abdulrahman is a Syrian Sunni who owns a clothing shop. Born Osama Suleiman, he adopted a pseudonym during his years of activism in Syria and has used it publicly ever since.’

The pressure point emotional buttons of hyper-sensitized western audiences were not hard to find.
Women
Children
Schools
Hospitals
All of the above were used relentlessly as the conflict in Syria began to go badly for the western goal of regime change as Russia increasingly pushed back their proxy forces.
A media campaign based on reports from Syrian activists, the White Helmets and the bogus observatory combined with hyperbole by both U.S. and UK representatives in the United Nations served to pummel the message of demonization into the minds of western audiences. It was relentless for many months, and the aims though largely achieved in fomenting the required anger in its audience did not, in the end, prevail in halting the quarantining of their proxies in Syria.
Currently, regarding Afghanistan we see the same callous and cynical attitudes arise once more, a withholding of Afghanistan’s cash reserves at a time when they will be most crucially needed. This mirrors the ongoing draconian restrictions backed by the threat of reprisals for anyone seeking to assist the Syrian government in its efforts to rebuild after the devastating ten-year conflict. And again, in Venezuela, the people there continue to suffer at the hands of the USA, UK and the so-called ‘International Community’. The most current estimation of the number of deaths caused by western sanctions is unavailable but the last indicated around 40,000 excess deaths had occurred.
‘As many as 40,000 people may have died in Venezuela as a result of US sanctions that made it harder for ordinary citizens to access food, medicine and medical equipment, a new report has claimed.
The report, published by the Centre for Economic and Policy Research (CEPR) a progressive, Washington DC-based think tank, says those deaths took place following the imposition of sanctions in the summer of 2017. It said the situation had probably worsened since the imposition earlier this year, of tougher sanctions targeting Venezuela’s vital oil industry, as part of the Trump administration’s effort to oust president Nicolas Maduro.
“The sanctions are depriving Venezuelans of lifesaving medicines, medical equipment, food, and other essential imports,” says the report, co-authored by Jeffrey Sachs, an award-winning economist based at Columbia University, and Mark Weisbrot. “This is illegal under US and international law, and treaties that the US has signed. Congress should move to stop it.”’
The Independent, 26 April 2019
Human Rights are being used by the West as a cover for state terrorism with the clear aim of subverting governments in target nations and replacing them with puppet regimes more than willing to accede to western elite demands.
The callous disregard for human rights by the USA, UK and their allies is laid bare by a number of factors, not only the sanction regimes and financial barriers they place on targeted nations, but also the hundreds of thousands who have died across their targeted nations due to their military invasions and occupations.
The evidence is clear for all to see. It only takes a clear-sighted individual, unconditioned by the incessant conditioning propaganda that permeates the western world to see it.
Setting aside all of the very cleverly manufactured misinformation created by innumerable agencies within the West, the CIA, western mainstream media news, the myriad NGO cover operations, and the statements of politicians totally invested in the determination to achieve worldwide hegemony… is the West’s utterly cynical human rights scam in all its totally vile and terminally callous horror.
