COVID-19 | THE SEMI-SUICIDAL, SEMI-HOMICIDAL USA

In the “Land of the Free” you can do whatever you want.

Dying or killing in the process.

You make your choices & you take your chances...
Wear a mask. Don’t wear a mask.

Social distance or to hell with it.

Shelter in place or live just the way you always did.

It’s the free enterprise, do as you feel USA.

Where there’s the ultimate freedom of choice of your semi-suicide if that’s how you feel.

Or be safe.

You can take the chance you’ll kill someone with a shrug, smile... or both.

It can be a political choice... perhaps to do what you think Trump wants?

It can be what your favorite conspiracy theory says.

And if you catch it and spread it you can recommend the “cure” your favored politician recommends... no matter what the virologists say.

You have total freedom to do as you like... no matter what.

And it's deadly.

The coronavirus and Covid-19 are swirling round America like detritus in a hurricane.

Rules are various or absent on Covid depending. Instruction and policies vary from state to state.

From the White House come contradictory statements at various time along with outright insanity.

Meanwhile, Americans lose their jobs, their health insurance and possibly their homes making them ever more susceptible to contracting the virus and having to choose whether to try home remedies or go bankrupt by getting medical help.

It’s a death spiral.

Trump, as Bolton has said, is concerned only with his re-election. He needs to get the U.S. economy back up and running no matter what. No matter if it creates an ever-increasing rise in Covid cases and deaths.

Round and round and round this free-enterprise semi-suicide, semi-homicide spiral will go until somebody, at some point, says maybe we should impose rules that will end all this?

But the imposition of rules? Isn’t that un-American?

And so it goes.

Round and round and round.

Meanwhile, in Europe there’s a disciplined approach. People in general obey the rules they know make sense. They trust the scientific community and its advice along with the central authorities they elected.

And they believe in working together to solve this.

Compare this to the USA.

There the chaos of self-interested, egotistical, insane determination to do whatever they like and to Hell with it, prevails.

And to an absolute Hell of its own making it is surely heading.

While constantly glorying in its hedonistic freedom, determined to flaunt the “benefits” they still see in this increasingly insane, increasingly semi-suicidal, semi- homicidal “L
