The conflict in Ukraine has spawned a quite ridiculously desperate attempt to deliver a barrage of lies to assist in covering up abject western defeat in Ukraine.
The troll farms, lie factories and the official CIA/MI6 psychological operations teams have all been hard at work for the last two years, along with those who channel their product, western mainstream news media, politicians, social media activists and the many public relations firms the Ukrainian regime has hired. Much of this material was wrong on its face and quite laughable, yet it was broadcast widely as fact.
Leyen about Russia
Ursula von der Leyen, president of the European started the trend toward an official fake news jamboree with her now infamous statement that Russia was the Russian industry was “in tatters” on 14 September 2022.
‘The Russian military is taking chips from dishwashers and refrigerators to fix their military hardware, because they ran out of semiconductors. Russia's industry is in tatters.’
Since that time the Russian military industrial complex went into overdrive having no problem in changing its source of computer chips (from China) and the entire Russian economy rose significantly with industrial production booming.
Russia running out of weapons
A recurring feature of early western propaganda which occasionally raises its head despite all evidence to the contrary, is that Russia will “soon” run out of missiles. This from 18 October 2022:
‘Russia is running short of long-range missiles, say Western officials.’
‘“Our assessment is that the ability for the Russians to continue with these saturating barrages of precision weapons is getting to the point now where this will be unsustainable.”
From BBC on 14th October 2022:
‘War in Ukraine: Is Russia’s stock of weapons running low?’
‘"We know - and Russian commanders on the ground know - that their supplies and munitions are running out," says Sir Jeremy Fleming, head of the British intelligence agency GCHQ.’
Instead of Russia running out of missiles there has been a steady increase in the use of all types of missiles that can be seen currently to be reaching a peak.
Putin’s many illnesses
From Business Insider May 30th 2022:
‘April 2022… a welter of tabloid speculation — none of which was confirmed — that he could be suffering from the effects of steroid treatment or Parkinson's disease.
‘May 2022: Anonymous oligarch says Putin has blood cancer
In early May, New Lines Magazine obtained a recording of an unnamed Russian oligarch saying that Putin "is very ill with blood cancer."
‘May 14 2022: Ukrainian military intelligence chief claims Putin "is very sick"... the 69-year-old was in a "very bad psychological and physical condition and he is very sick."
‘May 18 2022: MI6 experts weigh in, with one saying Putin will be "gone by 2023". The former head of Britain's MI6 spy agency, Richard Dearlove, suggested on a podcast Putin has long-term illness by saying he will be "gone" by the end of the year, and would be put into "the sanatorium, from which he will not emerge as the leader of Russia."
Despite all these reports of Putin’s imminent disappearance or even demise due to his many illnesses his subsequent many public appearance in public indicate he is in fact ‘fit as a fiddle’ as the saying goes.
Mark Twain was once confronted with similar claims:
According to legend, a reporter found Mark Twain, and asked him what comment he had about the rumor that he was dead. As the story goes, Mark Twain replied, “Reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated.”
Huge Russian losses?
From New York Times February 2nd 2023:
‘The number of Russian troops killed and wounded in Ukraine is approaching 200,000, a stark symbol of just how badly President Vladimir V. Putin’s invasion has gone, according to American and other Western officials.’
From The Guardian January 6th 2024:
‘Russia-Ukraine war: Russia on course to have lost 500,000 troops by end of 2024, says UK.’
However…
From BBC July 1st 2023:
‘Counting Russia’s dead in Ukrane.’
‘We identified more than 25,000 named individuals - people we know to have died.’
From Mediazona May 20th 2023:
‘BBC and Mediazona confirm 30,003 Russian soldiers killed in Ukraine.’
So, not 200,000 or 500,000?
Meanwhile…
From Yahoo News February 26th 2024:
‘Zelensky says 31,000 soldiers killed in first official death toll.’
However…
From The Eurasian Times January 7th 2024:
“It Will Be A Shock”: Ukraine Lost 500,000 Soldiers In War So Far.
The Ghost of Kiev
‘The Ghost of Kiev is the nickname given to a mythical MiG-29 Fulcrum flying ace credited with shooting down six Russian planes over Kiev during the Kiev offensive on 24 February 2022.
Two months after the story spread, the Ukrainian Air Force acknowledged that the fighter was a myth. Experts have stated that stories such as Ghost of Kyiv are part of Ukrainian propaganda or a morale-boosting campaign, or potentially both.’
Those deadly shovels
From BBC March 6 2023:
‘Ukraine war: Russian reservists fighting with shovels - UK defence ministry.’
‘Russian reservists could be using "shovels" for "hand-to-hand" combat in Ukraine due to a shortage of ammunition, the UK's Ministry of Defence says.’
Nothing further need be said about this piece of nonsense from the BBC. Subsequent events have shown how ridiculous such propagandist claims have been proven to be.
“News” from Ukraine
Western mainstream news media outlets take their “news” on events in Ukraine in the most part from Ukrainian sources. Therefore, if a Ukrainian source makes a claim it tends to be reported in the West as a known fact rather than be greeted with the scepticism it more appropriately deserves. This goes to explain in most part the continuing confusion of western populations regarding the true state of affairs in Ukraine. The majority still appear to believe that the Ukrainian regime is having massive success against Russia and that the western goals in Ukraine are being achieved. Nothing could be further from the truth. Just as the stories above, delivered as fact, were seen later to be wrong, so too will all notions that Ukraine or the West is “winning” be shown to be false also.
